I think the idea of a VIP forum like this is interesting, although I've observed thanks to signify that a user is notable. Often this means intelligence and quality posting, but plenty of members without that many thanks make great posts too. It could foster a perception of the general community here as being a thanks-farm for the higher-ups, creating a divided user base.

On the other hand, there are quite a few users who are not serious but insist upon posting in serious discussion, and I understand the frustration of sifting through pages of bullshit before finding some valuable information.

No, my posts are clever and i put a little effort into them, so i have the best thanks to post ratio of active members on the site.

Everybody who has over 1000 thanks is pretty much a classic, noteable poster though, so it'd be cool to have a forum where only they can talk.

The VIP forum may only contain members who are BOTH hated AND have been Thanked thousands of time in spite of the hatred. For example, Vizier is hated by just about everybody, and yet he's somehow managed to garner thousands of Thanks. This indicates that the quality of his posts overrides the angst he would probably fully deserve. Snoopy is not really hated by everybody, and the spammer crowd tend to warm up to him, so he gets literally thousands of Thanks just by posting UMAD icons, therefore Snoopy himself would have to find some other way to get into the forum.
