Alright so my beautiful MiO straight tube was broken a couple months ago. Even though the glass is 12mm thick my friend dropped his phone on the thinnest weakest part, the bubble where them stem goes through.
Last week I finally got around to patching it up, it works quite well and most repairs I've seen are done with duct tape/hoses/wax etc so I thought I'd share my method.
All you really need is
a window screen repair kit (~$6 at home depot/lowe's)
epoxy (I used gorilla glue epoxy, ~$7 at home depot)
maybe some clamps, masking tape, a rag, nothing you wouldn't have lying around
Since the epoxy joins metal and glass, the idea is to rebuild with the screen the shape of the hole. Then yiou mix up some epoxy and spread it over the screen. Let it sit for a few minutes until it begins to harden, then put on a few more layers and ad more screen where you need it. The epoxy will fill in all the little holes in the screen, making it water/smoke tight and very well attatched to the glass.
