Dell power jacks are designed to fail

Every dell laptop I've ever had has seemed to have the same problem: The power jacks become touchier than a cat with rabies RIGHT after the laptop leaves warranty. And of course the constant unplugging causes the battery to lose its ability to hold a charge, meaning you're stuck with a 150 dollar battery replacement, on top of sending your laptop in to dell and paying some techie 100+ dollars to fix a problem they created.


How haven't they been sued over this?

Seems that way with any mass produced computer.

Once I got my HP desktop I replaced the power supply with a proper one and haven't had any problems.

Then my kyros tablet dies and I have to buy a new battery for it x.x

It's called an intentional design flaw. Intentional design flaws generate literally billions of dollars of profits which would not have been taken otherwise. The parasites and cockroaches of our "society", as well as their enablers, would never have it any other way.

This is just about how I feel about any big name system integrators like HP, Dell, Apple (except Apple is almost inconceivably worse in every regard). Personally I have had good experience with one smaller company (http://www.ztsystems.com/) which has decent pricing for their home systems and they will typically last more than long enough until the technology becomes outdated, necessitating an upgrade (unless you have basic or casual computing needs; I like games). The best overall are AMD-ATI based home-built computers with components bought off of somewhere like Amazon where they're ridiculously cheap. In fact, my living room is currently home to many components which will soon be put to use.
