In the state I live in, the attendant pumps the gas, and when you pay with cash, you pay after he fills you up. Make sure you put the real tags back on the vehicle shortly after filling up. You'll be fine, but keep in mind most gas stations do have video surveylence

Return credit from Walmart can be used at the gas pumps there.

All gas stations around here are pay before you pump.

Many stations in my experience, let you go to buy a drink.plus fill up and.let you.leave your card onside while you fill up in order to group the payments. Can you say "prepaid debit / stolen deactivated card?"

Same here.

Good luck if you actually manage to find one. Every single station in a 100 mile radius where I live, is either prepay or credit/debit. You can't get a drop of gas without paying first.

While it's illegal, many still get away with it as the person who got fired either doesn't know the law, or doesn't have time/money to sue.

You are incorrect. My friend worked at a gas station, and whenever anyone pulled in to use the pumps, he was supposed to write down their license plate and the pump # they are at. The first time someone drives off and you don't have their plates & # recorded, you get a warning. The second time you lose your job.

Yes I can. And I'm telling you that you are wrong. When a car pulls in, he immediately has the responsibility to record the license plate, if they drive off with a full tank of gas because he didn't write it down. Guess what, he failed to do his fucking job which was to write down people's license plates.

Just because people disagree with you after they quote your message doesn't mean they're confused about what they read. It means you're spouting falsehoods/stupidity.

Do you have any case law to prove your claims or you just pulling shit out of your ass? Do you even know what case law is? Google it before replying so your brilliance doesn't wane in front of your audience.

I'm pretty sure a chain owned Mobile wouldn't intentionally have a running policy that could get them sued. Believe me, I know you think you're smart Unwires, but most multi million dollar corporations hire people who are much smarter than you to study case laws and fire out suitable policies that don't end up in law suits.

Because you know what I would do if your stupid ass was right? Get a gas station job, never monitor the pumps, then sue. Don't you think everyone would?

Idiot.

Using google is one thing, spending time and money to go to court is another.

I know I could take time off work to do it (benefit of being on Salary),but most can't. If I got fired, I doubt I'd be able to do it.

Listen here fuckboy. First off many corporations have policies that will get them sued because its most profitable to get sued sometimes with this policy than it is to not have them at all. Take university of phoenix for example. A large online school. Their single greatest expense is lawsuits from people sueing because they can't get jobs with their degrees. Now do they do anything to make themselves more reputable? No because they have exact calculations and are getting rich despite many many lawsuits. Now Exxon may not be built around fucking over everyone but they do have like you said people way smarter than us figure this shit out. There is a formula that includes how often people steal gas, how often they have to fire someone for this, how often they get sued, how much they lose, how much they would lose if someone kept stealing this often with this person working vs how much they lose from the 1/100 employees who go along with a suit ect. You get the idea. See in your infinite intelligence you don't even understand some of the most basic business principles. It's not every business goal to get sued as little as possible.

There is another example given in economics classes you may be able to wrap you small brain around because it involves far less variables. A company is polluting a lake. They get fined 1 million a year for doing this. Now they keep doing it because getting rid of that waste in another way would cost 1.1 million. Look they are getting fined or sued on purpose brad. Isn't that shocking.

As for you getting a job as a gas station attendant for the purpose of sueing. This isn't like one of those sue and get rich things. You'd have to prove in a court of law that you had serious lif problems what they call damages in legal terms for this otherwise you'd be lucky to get a 6 month salary back. Now say someone like phox who "paid their way through school" by working at a gas station had it happen to them. He could maybe make some serious cash off it. You act like you know so much about law but just like we found in business you are lacking very simple concepts.

Well like I explained up there in most cases it won't really be worth it that's why they do it and can get away with it. Doesn't make it any less illegal though.

Sorry, I missed you saying that before.

There's many illegal things employers do because employees can't fight it, or won't fight it.

A great example is certain businesses requiring you to work until midnight than early the next morning.

Exactly. You have morons like brad here believing a successful company never breaks laws which only goes to further their ability too.

So if there is 10 customers in line and you don't write down someone on the far ends license plate and they speed off they fire you? What gas station do you even work at where you can see everyone plates. I'm think about almost every gas station in my area and I can't even think of one even the small one where this would be close to possible. Phox you are so far behind in this argument it would be best for you to just be quiet at this point.

90% of gas stations have surveillance cameras. Why the fuck would they pay someone to write numbers down when they can just rewind the damn tape?

Why wouldn't the gas station install cameras rather than expecting an employee to write down every license plate number?

The one I was referencing to has a clipboard and binoculars next to the wall that is just windows. So they can see every car. Your job is to write down the license plate numbers, they tell you this, you dont' do it, you lose your job.

Unwires you just dumb as fuck and don't understand what I"m saying. If you violate/fail to maintain a rule that you were supposed to follow, you have violated their rules and can be subjected to termination.

If that goes over your head, I'm beginning to think the photo you posted might be one of you from your younger years.

Well maybe that is plausible if they really pay someone 8 dollars an hour to do that instead of making people pay first or investing in a camera. I've never heard or seen something that ridiculous in my life so forgive me.

It's okay, you're stupid as fuck. I didn't expect you to have that many experiences to couple with your limited intelligence since I started reading your posts in April.

Edit: The reason they do this (they make you prepay after 5pm when they're busiest & they do got cameras) is because if a drive off happens, they can notify the police department immediately, alreadyw itht he license plate on hand, get the driver pulled over, before they even make it home.

Rather than running intot he backroom, analyzing the tape, etc etc etc.

Some states like mine have a law that if you get caught stealing gas, they will take away your driver's license for quite some times, I think like a year or two.

I can assure you that I have worked at several establishments where it was the waitresses duty to pay for the tab if someone "dined and dashed". It isn't illegal, as it is the waitresses duty to charge and collect the tab at the end of the meal. This is to cut down on friends of the waitress coming in, eating for free and he/her claiming it was a dine and dash.

I can't vouch for anything anyone else is saying, but I can guarantee you that there are places that make the server pay if someone walks out on a tip.

Just because they do it doesn't mean it isn't illegal. I can link you too plenty of shit but I suggest you google it for yourself.

I still don't see the logic behind only making someone pay beforehand sometimes and making someone watch other times? Do customers say "Outrage pay before I pump, Ill take my business somewhere else". Would that not be easier than dealing with a driveoff immediately? I mean I live in an area where I've never seen something like that so prove me wrong and I'll admit my ignorance something I'd doubt you'd ever do.
