Are american high schools like they are in the movies?

I'd like to know whether the the movies on American high school accurately portrays what high schools are.. Do parties have the red cups and hot girls? do you get different people hanging out on different tables the lunch room like in the movies? Is prom like it is on American pie?

I went to college in the UK and for me at least it was totally different from what I see to be the 'typical American high school'. and was it fun?

they are called Solo cups and yeah every party has them pretty much because you don't want to use your actual dishes and kitchen ware to serve drinks in. Also they are for playing various drinking games. yeah there's usually hot girls but then parties are kind of a role of the dice in that respect unless you're the one inviting people.

yeah, cliques sit together at lunch, but it ain't like it is in the movies. most people look like regular schmoe's except for the goths/emos/whatever that dress a very particular and distinct way.


Prom is like it is on American Pie if you know people with enough money to make it so. Limo's, beach houses, alll that kinda shit costs a lot of money.






It's pretty fun, but it just depends on the kind of person you are tbh. If you want to have the "most fun" by the standard definition of an average 18 year old white male in America then you're probably going to have to sit through more superficial bullshit than an episode of Sex & The City..but for 4 years.

My high school was definitely one of the more "trendy" schools. Most guys who went there, at least tried out for the football team, or some sports team.

At lunch, it wasn't like you could tell everyone apart. Our school had a "standard dress", meaning we had a choice between three colors to wear, and the style of clothing had to be the same. Most people looked the same for the most part.

High school parties were usually lame at my school. A few people knew how to have a party, but for the most part it was shitty.

I think movies exaggerate, but for the most part it is accurate.
