Are leather jackets for faggots now?

I've rarely seen a respectable looking guy wearing a leather jacket. They're all obvious faggots trying to look tough, and I"m afraid that I'll fall into that category because of my stolen personality. What's your opinion on leather jackets? I'm talking about for people who don't ride.

Leather jackets are just fine, but don't buy a new one. Buy a used one. If you buy a new jacket your money is going to go directly to the cattle industry. That's bad, because the cattle industry is bad. Don't support it. The good news is that older jackets are generally the only kind worth wearing because the new kind suck. The pinnacle of leather jacket manufacturing perfection was the mid 1980s. You really want to go for a jacket that is very well-tailored with little tolerance, and the leather itself needs to be textured (not smooth), and from this era there are plenty of jackets which fit this criteria. Of course, you need to make sure that there's no plastic on the outside of the jacket, i.e. in the cuffs or the waist. The waist and cuffs need to be 100% cotton. Elastin within the cotton is not acceptable. The interior of the jacket can be lined with a synthetic fiber if for no other reason that it seems to be the norm with run-of-the-mill jackets. This has nothing to do with fashion, it's about saving your ass on those mean city streets. Some forms of clothing are cursed and others are not. This is law.

It might be best to just wear cotton jackets.

Depends on the jacket and what the person looks like. Biker style jackets don't look good on non bikers. Remember seeing some scrawny 17/18 yr old in a leather jacket a few months ago, doesn't look good either.

Yeah they ruined hoodies. I was wearing one the day I heard about the "million hoodie march" on the radio and I immediately took it off.

I have this jacket. It's pimp but if you aren't a biker it's gay to wear it. Or really even wear it if you aren't riding because you look like a poser. Like all these assholes who ride around in SUV's and Trucks with harley davidson decals on them.


I think the hoodie will be ok to wear again after a while though.

Blunderstar if you are serious, you're fake mafia persona probably comes across as really gay. Your best bet is being a biker. Get a bike, and start riding. Then you wont have to fake anything. You won't regret it. I would say get an older sport bike because you're gonna drop it once or twice if you never rode a dirt bike or anything.

I never rode a cruiser but I wouldn't mind getting one one day. But you should get a sport bike because they are so powerful. I got interested in riding for the wrong reasons, like you seem to be, but when I did I got a passion for it.

Old and worn leather jackets/bomber jackets are the shit. If you get a decent jacket, with no faggoty weirdly placed zippers or this years 'fad' feature, are completely timeless and you can wear it till you die or till it falls to shit - but if it's good quality, you'll probably die first.

My whole family are German, and German people wear leather: fact. My dad is still wearing his jacket when he came over on the boat, and that was like 47 years ago. Still looks good because it's just a just a normal, unremarkable leather jacket.

Go to a thrift shop and get your self a good, sturdy jacket.

I have a leather trenchcoat. It's completely waterproof, no wind comes through and it's really warm. Not too long, it gets right to my knee. High quality. Inside it's this bordeaux/burgundy red. It was actually my father's, who got it from my great aunt.

Downside? I look like a pedophile/SS/goth in it, even though it's really a neutral coat. I'll still wear it though. Combined with my cargo pants and marine sweater, it's great. Not very stylish perhaps, but very practical and warm.

I wore a leather jacket yesterday, a cordovan Eisenhaur-style jacket. Got it for $5 at a yard sale about six years ago.

Right now, a camo BDU jacket does the trick.

I guess not all leather jackets have to be motorcycle jackets. But Nothing keeps wind/rain out like leather. I've had to ride in the rain a few times. When I had the jacket on my upper body was completely dry. Feet were soaked Guess thats what they make conductor boots for but I ride a sport bike and that would looke really gay.

And since it's summer I havn't really been wearing mine. I think I may start again on nights when it's cooler.
