Mad HALP Microsoft Outlook

So a friend recently bought a new computer as some of you may have seen in an older thread. I managed to transfer most/all of thier folders and files over with an external hard drive but Iam having an impossible time with Microsoft Outlook. I tried copying the archive straight into the file but its murdering me and not reading it. I have absolutely no idea what to try next and my expertise of outlook spans a 2 week orientation course on it... =( Halp??

Are you talking about Outlook Express or Outlook 2003? (Didn't they drop the Outlook name for 2007?)

If you're starting with Outlook Express, I've had some luck upgrading to 2003, then exporting from that.

Are you just copying the Outlook.pst file over or going through the "Import & Export" wizard?

Ah, I didn't know if that was the same as vista's default "Windows Mail" or whatever it is... I've only messed with that program once.

OP, are you exporting from/to the same versions of Outlook?

Doing that stuff should do it for you, and I wouldn't think it would be too bad unless they have thousands of emails to export or something like that.
The last time I backed up someone's account with about (4000) emails on an old Dell it took about 4 or 5 hours I believe... Otherwise it should be alright.
