Default Leaving for MEPs tomorrow

Any helpful tips or previews of what's about to happen would be great.

The only thing that can fuck me up now is if I have to get a med waiver for my ankle which they are no longer giving for the National Guard. Concerning that, I've had a plate and 5 screws put in it and then they were removed over a year ago. I was released by the doc so I should be good, but does anyone have any similar experiences? I'm just hoping I don't need a waiver.

It's just MEPS. Not much to worry about there. It's populated mostly by frustrated men who yell at you because they wish they could be training instructors and/or think it's their job to Prepare You For the Boot Camp Environment. You aren't allowed to do anything fun.

Don't volunteer any information. They don't need to know about your ankle. If it's a problem, it'll come up during the orthopedic test.

Remember to wear closed-toe shoes and bring current driver's license or ID.

MEPs was easy as hell for me. Besides waking up early and doing the shit they tell you to. And waiting ALOT. It wasn't so bad because they had ESPN on a HDTV. lol

wow you said that like it makes you cool. dude, its meps. you sit there all day. its not supposed to be hard.

your recruiter should have told you everything you need to know about waivers, what to say to who, what to bring, and what to wear.

meps does suck though...try to stay sane. its going to be a long day.

Oh, also you're going to be surrounded by a bunch of idiots who think they're cool because they make witty comments about "hurry up and wait" every three seconds.

Yeah, it was pretty mellow. I got briefed on it right before I left. It's all good except I have to go back to sign my contract because of some bureaucracy bullshit on my high school transcripts. On a related note, I got a 93 on the ASVAB.

I scored a 101.
I remember the best part of my MEPS experience was the hotel. Badass food, air force girls, free shit, and air force girls.

There were like 4-5 girls looking to enlist for the army and that was it for girls. However, there were fucking 56 guys wanting to enlist in the Marines, the Navy office was closed, and no one wanted the Air Force. Also, I heard that there is a year wait for basic for the Navy.

Oh, I know; I've been through that shit. Everyone I talk to online seems smart, right, they say to just shut up, keep your head down, and get through it, yet when I got there half the compartment commenced strolling around appointing themselves into pseudo-positions of authority and taking shit way too seriously.

I mean, I know we were supposed to help each other out, but christ.

Dallas MEPS last year had over a hundred Army applicants lined up, less than a dozen Navy, and shit all for the rest. There's not a year-long wait unless tons of people have started going for the Navy in the last few months.

I'm pretty sure that's actually what happened. The office has been closed down and they're apparently not taking anymore recruits at this moment.

Oh yeah, this is Indianapolis MEPS which all the employees have the fondness to tell everyone that would listen that it's the second largest federal building in the US and only second to the Pentagon. I swear I had 5 fucking people tell me that both days.

The accommodations were pretty kick ass. We got put up in the Radisson hotel and I got a fucking king size Sleep Number bed to myself for all 5 hours I was able to sleep.

Ah, nice. I was in the Crowne Plaza here in Dallas. They don't check you at all when you go to eat dinner, so I know if I'm out of money and hungry I can walk into the back of the dining area and get my free MEPS food.
