Whats a human sacrifice victim's perspective on life.

I've been wondering what a human sacrifice victim's perspective on life is. How many, if any, victims are willing? Do they think it's the right thing to do? Do they believe they will be rewarded in the afterlife? I'm mostly interested in Mesoamerican cultures, but due to the conquistadors I don't think theres much information on them.

I think so, but they could still have been willing if they believed they were supposed to be sacrificed. They would be martyrs.

I'm pretty sure cultures like the Mayan's captured neighboring tribes and used those people as the sacrifices rather then their own willing population who actually believed in that. At least in terms of the Mayans. I have no idea about the other tribes.

Did the people being sacrificed have the same religion as the ones who captured them? I wish the Spanish didn't destroy so much Mayan culture...
