Default recomend me a compressor pedal for bass guitar

a wise older bass player once told me "no matter what kind of effects you have get a compressor pedal" and after trading my trace elliot amp that had one built in its time to look for one. I'm kind of drawn to the tube driven compressors but they are expensive, although EBS does make a nice solid state one too. Ill be using it for with my Ampeg svt amp, the other effects i have are EBS valve drive preamp, EBS wah/volume/envelope filter for bass guitars, Electro Harmonix Big muff for bass, and a Digitech bass multi chorus. My Guitars are a Fender Jazz Bass, G&L L2000, and a 70's Ibanez Black Eagle bass if any of that info helps.

A lot of people here have some good info about bass compressors.
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/archiv...hp/t-9466.html

That is a great site for any info regarding bass guitar. I agree with most of the people on there. Learn to control your dynamics without the use of a compressor if you can.

Also, nice setup. My roommate has both an L2000 and an older Jazz Bass. They are great. Why on earth are you using that digitech chorus?

i usually play live and there is only a couple o songs that use any noticable amount of compression they are the heavier songs where i want each note to really have the same level of dynamics and volume. I wanted a compressor since i borrowed a solid state one with tube sim on it and like the warmth it gives my sound when its only slightly on.
