Default A question about a dealer losing his phone to the cops...

Let's say a dealer gets jumped, pistol whipped and robbed of drugs in a parking lot. The cops know why the kids jumped him(for drugs), so they get a warrant, search the kid's house who got jumped, and take some pipes and shit and his phone. When the cops look through the phone, are they going to be looking for people/busting people who may have texted him about getting OCs or weed? If so, what consequences are these people facing for inquiring about illegal substances?

Many, many people. And all the evidence on the phone is circumstantial at best. At the absolute most it would give the cops warrants to search their homes/cars, but even that's unlikely. Most likely all those people will be on the cops radar from now on. Not a big deal, but its certainly nothing to be happy about either. If its you who got busted you should let everyone who sent you incriminating texts whats up. Tell them its not big deal but they should be careful and watch what their doing for the next few months.

I would think that the cops wouldn't be able to do anything to the people who called the dealer...

Probably not too much with texts either. The requests are probably deleted (by the dealer), and if they're not the person could just say the dealer never came, or it was a joke, or any other lame excuse.

Though if it was anything serious, i guess the police could put some sort of watch on some people in the phone memory?

^It also depends if any of the people who texted him had priors. If so then they will be on the cops watch list for sure. None of this evidence would stand up in court, but it can tip the cops off so they can gather real evidence on you. Unless you're pretty high up in the drug would they won't give a shit. If you're choppin dimes of dope and 40's of oxy they won't give a shit. They mainly go after the big guys.

I'm sure the last thing a dealer will do after being robbed and beaten is call the cops.

Depends entirely on what state you're in. Some states will put you in jail for small amounts of weed while others (like NY) fine you $100.

Some states will sell you drugs then arrest you for buying them. (shakes head)

In NY, you would have the benefit of the doubt. They wouldn't have even searched your home, and unless you're a HUGE kingpin, they wouldn't bother with the phone.

Question Re: A question about a dealer losing his phone to the cops...

Dag quite a pickle, if you used code in the texts you might be ok, so long as there was no explicit mention of drug deals and such.

Example:
"Sure I can bring some goodies to the party."-OK
"Yea I cut the coke down allot this time so I'll sell it to ya on the cheap"- Prison Butt rape.

I don't really see how this dude getting jumped got the cops a warrent though, unless he had shit on him when he was jumped.

IMPORTANT: Let your friends and contacts know that your phone was confiscated and if they get a call to act like they don't know you.

Next time the cops are at the door toss your phone in the microwave and nuke it, they wont be pulling shit off of it then.

Well if his in possession of Bongs, Pipes or whatever then he will not get Charged. In Australia you can go into Cigarette Shops and purchase Bongs, Pipes even though Weed is Illegal. I suggest you ring up his Cell Provider and Social Engineer them into Suspending the Account.

I social engineered Telstra the other week into locking a Faghatz phone. Alls you need to know is the Account name it's in. I'll post a Screenshot of the Aftermath Chat. I was deliberately acting as a nub.

Mmm, If I had 20 Stolen Xbox 360s and I was selling for cheap like $50, You buy one and the cops come around to your house you are in possession of Stolen Goods you will be charged. If he has Drugs or friends Drugs he'll be charged if he has a Bong/Pipe which may have been used he most likely wont get charged, If they have been used then they probably still wont charge him. Thats like me charging you for having an empty packet of Cigarettes.

No your number is safe unless they find it on another dealers phone and put 1 and 1 together. Then your fucked. Until then you just are friens with him and that is it. Only would be guilty by your own admission.

They're not going to be fucking bothered about some kids with drugs, think how much effort they have to go through with paperwork and shit just for a minor catch.

They want distributors, because arresting users is an endless uphill slope.

Theres some computer program that loads all the info & displays a 'web' of the cell phone number to all the phone numbers in its memory.
As other cell ph # are added it builds up a picture of the organisation.
They don't need to bother with a warrant as they are not going to use it in that way, it just confirms what they know, or want to know.
They would need to get a warrant if they wanted to find out individual calls & times & TXTs etc.
But thats only usefull in individual cases.

What they have here is a 'map' of the organisation.
The info on it (the seized cellphone) is not gonna get you arrested. But they will know how you are connected to the person if you cell# is in their memory.
I think that the would do this to every cellphone they come in contact with.
The only thing you could do now is, never use a cellphone again, or get a new cell# & get everyone connected to the guy to get a new cell# too.

Anyway, your arse has been exposed. If things get any dirtyer they are going to have a good long hard look into it.

Riiiight. You try telling that to a judge and let me know how it works out for ya. You people seem to be under the impression that the system is designed to work in your favour. In reality, it exists to put people like us in prison so don't go thinking that your little excuses will do anything besides encourage an impatient judge to bring the hammer down harder on you.

99% of the time, social engineering is just a term used by pretentious prickwits who like to think that tricking some bored jobsworth who's just waiting for his next paycheck into doing something impossibly minor is something that takes skill and cunning. Make a four-figure profit without getting caught using nothing but deception, then call yourself a social engineer.

Cops don't give a fuck about arresting users in most places, unless they want to set an example (universities, for example). The dealer will get a minor punishment and they won't give a shit about following up anybody else on the evidence of a text saying "hey braw can i get a quarter tonight".

I don't think you can encrypt your typical phone much less password lock it unless you have a smarthphone like I do .

Text are great for drug related shit but holy fuck you need to delete that shit the minute the deal is done or every day. Even I still do that shit just so other people who look at my phone when I'm not there cant see who or what I was talking about to other people usually nothing bad. Its all about privacy, keep the assholes guessing!

haha, I guess that would be the case if i was stupid enough to text a dealer or end up in that situation. You don't need to worry about giving me advice I have no unrealistic preconceptions about judges and their hammers.

And whatever i don't grow myself i buy from friends. I can't remember the last time i even called a *real* dealer...

But thanks

Nuking/Destroying your SIM (or even phone) is mighty useless as phone companies are REQUIRED to keep records of messages for THREE YEARS MINIMUM.

alright alright, i won't give advice. But, the idea was, if a cop has only a text message request as evidence, there's no proof at all that the "goods" were delivered. You can deny you ever received the drugs and there's probably not much the cops can charge you for. At least nothing serious.

What would your other options be?
