Sidearm appreciation thread
All right, I try to do these once a year. Last year's (on totse) didn't get much response.
What's your favorite sidearm? What do you usually carry on you? What firearm never leaves your side?
I usually carry my S&W 1911 in .45 caliber on me. Yeah, it's big and bulky but it's surprisingly easy to conceal if you have the right holster. I also have a Glock 21 in .45 but I don't usually carry it. It's actually a friend of mine's. I also have a itty bitty AMC .380 back up I carry on my leg sometimes if I need the extra firepower.
What kind of holsters do you like/use? Where do you wear it? Do you tilt it in any way?
I usually carry my 1911 in an IWB holster. It's like the crossbreed holsters but made by a different company. It actually conceals my 1911 really good and allows me to tuck my shirt in if I need to. I also have a really nice OWB holster for it too. Made by Galco. I usually wear it on my strong side hip but sometimes I wear it behind my hip bone on my strong side. Both of these holster tilt forward about 45 degrees (like the FBI). I like this better, it seems easier to draw for my than straight up and seeing as I like my holster high on my hip, it's actually better for me.
I have a paddle holster for the Glock but I really carry my Glock so not much to comment on here. It actually allows different levels of tilt but, like I said before, I tilt mine forward. For my .380 I have a really neat ankle holster, nothing special though. I usually wear it on my left ankle because it seems easier to draw for me. I am right handed.
What kind of bullets do you carry? Is you gun single/double/DOA? What kind of safeties does your sidearm have? Do you carry one in the tube?
I carry hollow points in all my pistols. My gun is single action so I usually have one in the tube with the hammer cocked back. My gun has three safeties: a beaver tail (I love these!), a slide stop, and a safety on the hammer that keeps it from firing if you don't pull the hammer back all the way. This prevents misfires from slippage of the hammer. Like I said before, I carry my pistol fully loaded with a bullet in the tube and the hammer pulled back so my slide stop safety is engaged. I find it easier to flip my safety down than pull my hammer back.
What about you Zoklet?
I will post pictures later seeing as I'm at work right now and can't.

Re: Sidearm appreciation thread
I now carry a pair of 1911 A1's, one Ithaca, one Colt's, both WWII speciments.
I usually carry them without holsters, one one each side, cocked and locked. I may or may not also carry my S&W .38 spl somewhere else.
My Hi-Power now sits in my bedside table.
Just the other day I was noticing that I like to have around far more guns than I will probably need.

Yeah, me too. Within my reach right now are two pistols and two shotguns. All them fully loaded with one in the tube.

Re: Sidearm appreciation thread
The whole line of S&W revolvers have never disappointed me, rossi and taurus arent to bad either.
1911's are nice, i've shot a lot of different ones and they all do everything you expect them to.
Hi powers are where it's at, i love them.
guns i haven't shot but look like i'd like them: cz75's, the FNP series, maybe the fn-57 if i needed something a little exotic.

Re: Sidearm appreciation thread
Favorite,
P220ST (SA/DA)
However it doesn't get carried often.
Concealed carry favorites:
S&W M&P 360 (DAO)
Glock 29 (DAO)
P228 (sometimes) (SA/DA)
All carry guns either,
Winchester Ranger
Federal HST
Always with one in the chamber.
Don't like external safeties.
High Noon Mister Softy -- for casual clothes.
Galco Syops -- for dress clothes when I have to tuck my shirt in.

Oh, and to he OP.
Generation 2 GLOCK 19 here.
Currently loaded with 125gr Corbon and a spare 15 round mag loaded with the same, and a GLOCK 17 mag loaded with Fiocchi ball, because I ran out of Corbon
I also have 150 rounds of Federal 115gr +P+ (9BPLE) on backorder from Streichers, I have no idea when it will be shipped out.
I also might buy a Five-seveN soon, after I get all my AK stuff sorted out.

Re: Sidearm appreciation thread
I usually carry a Beretta Jetfire .25 ACP--used to wear it in an ankle holster, now I just keep in in the front right pocket of my jeans.
Sometimes at shows when I use a fanny pack to keep my money in, I keep a little North American Arms .22 mag revolver in one of the pockets.

Re: Sidearm appreciation thread
I'm hoping that one day you will too
It's not as elaborate as I make it sound though, I'm just planning on buying a really good AK to upstage my current GP WASR 10/63.
I'm looking at the Arsenal SLR-107FR, but I'm told it's out of production, so I'm probably going to go with a plum stocked Arsenal (Saiga) SGL-20.
I'll be topping whichever one with a PK-23 if I can find someone who has one in stock.
Well, that and I STILL have to get that Savage I've been bitching about for the past 2 years sent off to get work done (piece of shit jams, has something to do with it being a .223 in a long action receiver).
EDIT:
Forgot why I came into this thread.
I'm finally getting around to ordering a set of XS Big Dots (tritium) for my 19.
I had the non tritium version on a shitty Charles Daly BHP clone, sights worked awesome, unlike the gun.

Re: Sidearm appreciation thread
Any recommendations on a make and model for a small caliber pocket-handgun (About the size of a Beretta Tomcat)?

Re: Sidearm appreciation thread
Yes.
A Beretta Tomcat, lol.
But, in all seriousness, the only guns I can think of would be the Keltec P3AT/Ruger LCP (same gun really) an NAA Guardian .380 Auto, or the smaller NAA Guardian in .32 Auto.
I haven't used any of them though, so I can't comment on accuracy/reliability.

Re: Sidearm appreciation thread
I can't legally carry, I keep a loaded Walther P38 under my bed for home defence but when I'm out of the house I'm unarmed.

If you can justify the cost for this pocket gun...
