The Cycle of the Seasons (poem)
A poem about the differing states of being with the person you love. Feedback, criticisms, compliments, all of that is welcome. And if you would like any clarification about a line or whatever, I'll be happy to explain.
The Cycle of the Seasons
My love grows like the
Great Redwood, full of life.
While all our storms shall cut me
with the delicacy of a knife.
In the great Fall,
my leaves will caress the ground
While patiently I wait
for all of them to be found.
In the winter we are distant,
For all my limbs are bare.
So divinely towards the golden light
you say, "I will wait for you there
Until next spring when the
daisies shall rise,
And the Daturas bloom
to make your demise."
In reply I then speak,
"It is only you I need
For I am alone in this hell,
and alone I cannot be freed"
But then in spring, while daisies
Push towards the sky above,
Among my growing branches you
Land as a beautiful white dove.
You speak to me and say,
"Here we are, beneath the golden light,
Lay with me, it's not yet summer,
Keep me warm for this night."
There all my troubles melted
Like last winter's ice,
And there we lay together,
Together in paradise.
