Grin Contact thread - keep in touch

We have had this thread before back at BB...

Post contact info IF YOU WANT OTHERS TO HAVE IT and be able to contact you. IE AIM, MSN, email, skype, web site, etc. I'd recommend obfuscating it in some way. IE email (at) something (dot) computer... or better yet do around a 300x100px image with your contact info in paint, then up it to some image host, then post the image... as I doubt that spam email harvesters take the time to OCR images... Though really you can PM a member and ask for contact info that way... BUT if they haven't been here in ages and/or don't check their old email this doesn't really work well... hence the contact thread.

This is awesome if you remember talking a bit with a member about something you both were interested in in some thread... but would like to talk a ton more about it off board for whatever reason...

Quote:
IRC Backyard Ballistics chat info:

server: irc.slashnet.org
room: #totsebb
link: irc://irc.slashnet.org/totsebb
(above link should work if you have the chatzilla firefox irc plugin, usually wont work otherwise... unless you have a client, just didn't know about it)
IRC - Internet Relay Chat is a good way to have large real-time text chats. You need an IRC client program or you can use a web based client.

At any given time there are between about 5-12 of us logged in usually. At any given moment seems like 1 or 2 of us is actually there at the computer. Sometimes more. There is generally a lot of discussion, rarely pyro or chem related, but it does occur. Drop on by, stay a while. We generally decide when to have random skype chats and shit via IRC, and its a convenient way to share links with all of us quickly. Discussion varies widely.

If you have firefox you can get an IRC program as a plugin, chatzilla. Works.

If you don't want to install a client you can use mibbit via your web browser, it doesn't use java or flash. Sometimes IRC networks/servers will ban it. Sometimes they wont.
http://www.mibbit.com/
A comparison of clients:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_IRC_clients
What I use (X-chat2):
http://www.silverex.org/news/
If you are looking for other IRC networks/servers and rooms:
http://searchirc.com/

If you are completely new to IRC... you type commands and plain text in the bar at the bottom and press enter to send. Commands are proceeded by a forward-slash, "/"... Plain text to be sent for everyone to read is not. If you type "/command" in a chat, it will return something that only you can see usually... if you type " /command", it will send the text " /command" to everyone else on the chat. You have to be careful not to put a space before the slash.
Start the program. Then:
"/server irc.slashnet.org"
[this will connect you to the slashnet irc server, you will see alot of text, wait until it is finished, should take only a couple seconds. You should read all it says. You won't understand some of it, don't worry. It should also say how to connect with more secure connections, what services are running, etc.]
"/join #totsebb"
[this will connect you to the #totsebb room... and that should be all you need to know to start out.]
(If using mibbit you just need to select the slashnet server from the dropdown servers list, then type in the room, and all should work.)

Right. That should pretty much cover the basics. Get to it.
A good format:
email
aim/msn/skype etc
web site
a short block of text telling how you would prefer to be contacted... ex PM me if you add me... ex PM me for aim/msn/etc... what you would be most interested in talking about... what you have experience with... etc... whatever you want to say. Or say nothing. Whatever.

If your post is unrelated it will likely get deleted. If you like never post in this forum and you post your contact info, there is a good chance it will just be ignored. If you want to get into the group of regulars and talk about pyro, chem, etc, really IRC is the best way.

Thumbs Up Re: Contact thread - keep in touch

For aim/msn/skype/email contact me by PM here or IRC.

EDIT: Looks Like I may move on (in the near future)... I'll still probably drop by IRC and check this forum occasionally... but not post. Best chance to talk to me would be IRC.

Experience in modifying and making consumer fireworks, cannons, flamethrowers, nigger-rigging most things, and acetone peroxide. MSN would be best.

We (the totsebb IRC dudes) are thinking of trying to get group skypage going again more often. It always seems to die off. So yeah, if you are interested go to the IRC and say so. No idea what days/times exactly, just in general.

Would probably be me, lordnitrox, nuclearrabbit, dothacker, psyco_1322, and/or spatula tzar... Depending on who all is online and not busy. Whatever. Its a way to pass the time.
