Default (NJ) Applied for a handgun permit.

How long do you (have googled) think this process will take....NOTE that its too purchase handguns and have them locked in your car. (Our state has rules that suck too.)

I just got fingerprinting done 2 days ago - Tell me your stories.

I have a couple short stories.

Grew up in jersey. Went into a gunstore one day and wanted to look at a pistol I was asked for my purchasers permit or some crap. I left. Fortunately, the Army took me south to states with reasonable gun laws.

About 8 years after that, I was there while on leave in search of ammo. I had brought several pistols and wanted to go shoot with a relative who is in the LE business. We go to Dick's to pick up some .40 and .45 Aside from the horrible selection and prices, I was again asked for this mysterious permit. Apparently, a Govt ID was not good enough. My relative hands over his permit and drivers liscence, only to be told "the adresses on both of these have to match, I cant sell you ammo" Fortunately, his LE ID convinced the guy behind the counter. But "next time I'll have to turn you down, sir"

Thats all I got, otherwise I have only heard many of horrow stories on wait times, denial or stalling CCW applications etc.

Good luck!

It would probably be a lot easier just to move to neighboring Virgina or Pennsylvania. =)

Virginia does not border new jersey.

PA does have very lax gun laws, especially when compared to NJ or NY.

I too reside in the center of new jersey, Jo Nathen.

True.

But it wouldn't be a long distance relocation.

I'm thinking about moving to PA at the end of the year.

I need a change in climate (currently florida). =/
