Re: Has anybody been to Amsterdam?
Yeah four times. Getting gayer each time i go. A hell of a lot of the red light windows are gone and are due to be closed. The coffeeshops are going too. Apparently half of whats left is due to be closed up by the end of this year. And it is one of the more expensive places in Europe which makes things even less enjoyable. Get in before it is all gone though. All the seedy aspects of it won't exist in ten years, guaranteed.
Really sad it is just a really safe and tame city now. I would of loved to live there in the 60's and 70's like my parents (they left in 1985). It was a dangerous, seedy, cheap and sleazy city back then, with loads of characters which made it awesome. They reckon heroin addicts and pickpockets were absolutely everywhere and people used to go and get pissed and stoned and it was a non stop party - its not even like that for a tourist these days. Theres still a few people on the streets trying to sell coke or maybe pickpockets but theyre just out to catch stoned people there really is no danger.

Re: Has anybody been to Amsterdam?
I hear Prague is a great substitute for Amsterdam. A fuckload cheaper, but with all the glorious hedonism, and still relatively untouched by massive tourism. Well, they do get a lot of tourists, but from what I hear and read, it's a lot cooler than Amsterdam in that respect. IMO, a better looking city as well.

Re: Has anybody been to Amsterdam?
Yeah, now tourists have to get green cards (not like citizenship bullshit, just the term) to get any drugs, and they are like impossible to get, also its piss expensive and AMMS is right its going to kill all of its appeal with new laws and other shit.

Re: Has anybody been to Amsterdam?
As Static said prague has a great nightlife but it is getting expensive and it has been really touristy. It really isn't that cheap at all but stilll cheaper than the dam. I guess a beer is about 2 or 3 euro per pint as opposed to 5 or 6 which is what you pay in amsterdam.
I forgot to mention Amsterdam is a multicultural hellhole. Too many Turks and niggers. The coffeeshops run by turks seem to just sell shit weed (im sure its all the same and they just give it names) they're just out to make money. The coffeeshops run by whites seem a lot better, the staff seem really interested in good weed and their life seems to revolve around smoking weed.
Amsterdam is good for history and art. And the layout of the city is quite cool. I visit for family etc and I would honestly say I would be extremely disappointed with the city in terms of partying though there always seems to be a wealth of dickhead spoilt american kids who look like theyre having fun
For partying id recommend Spain. All teh woman are hot (if brunettes are your thing) weed and coke is everywhere they might as well legalize it there and the weather is pleasant. Bars and clubs are awesome.
Id also recommend the Balkan countries Croatia is awesome and still cheap.

If you know about the subject, since you mentioned the coffee shop bit and it is a central reason for going, do you know of the reputable places to get weed?
Wow, that sounds gay when I read it over, but yeah an honest question.

I liked the Dampkring, Barney's, Grey Area a lot. Some of the ones with shit weed were nice to go in though for the decor such as the Doors and the Doors palace (one of those closed the last time I was there) Double Reggae, Grasshopper. Also go to the Cannibis College LOL you can visit the growing room for like $1 and use the vaporiser in there. There are other great ones but I cant remember them
I think my favourite weed was from Barney's and called G13 haze they informed me it won last years cannabis cup . I could barely walk out of there, I staggered out and once out on the street could not remember where I had come from and had a massive walkabout.

The Netherlands and Amsterdam are trying to get a law passed that requires tourists to acquire "Green Cards" to legally buy weed, salvia, etc. from the stores. But they would be very hard to get, you have to go through an application. It isn't in law yet, but they are trying.

You're exaggerating. The red light district is getting shit down true, good riddance though, just a bunch of eastern european whores getting exploited by dirtbags anyway.
Coffeeshops though, nope. There's a bunch of politics going on now but I'll won't bother you people with that.
I'm not sure how one of the safest countries in the world since the 50's can lose it's "seedy" aspect, but if we are, fuck yeah. Why the hell would we want to cultivate that shit for some wankers from across the ocean.

A (very) small percentage of tourism, which isn't even one of the major sources of income. It's a first world country, not Thailand.
