Default Season 4 (Spoilers)

Alright. So. It's supposed to be returning Thursday (which is today for those of us in Asialand--but unfortunately it doesn't let us get the show any quicker). 2 hour special, I think.

A couple things I'd like to clear up because I don't remember them (and haven't watched season 3 in quite some time):

-Jack and Claire are half-brother/sister? I read this on Lostpedia. I don't recall it from the series, but apparently when Claire was in the hospital, Christian Shephard paid for her fees.

-One of the chicks from the tail-end of the plane who was abducted early on (the one who watches over the kids) talks to Jack when he's imprisoned by the Others? I remember seeing them briefly when Jack was in the cage (or maybe it was Sawyer?) I think she talks to somebody (or at least that's what I read) but I don't remember it. Did whoever she talked to know that she was one of the passengers?

Also, I wanted to share this (it was posted in another forum) because I think it's hilarious:

Also, this is a video that you can see through "The Lost Experience" that reveals a whole lot of information that hasn't been seen in the show so far. THERE ARE HUGE SPOILERS CONTAINED WITHIN.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PPCCcXarkc

If you want to follow the show without this information, then do not watch the video.

I think the funeral is for Ben. Jack desperately wanted to get back to the island. Ben was the one trying to keep everyone there. I think in season 3, Jack will realize how wrong he was about phoning for help. Ben will side up with him because they now have similar goals. Eventually they lose and leave the island. Ben dies and nobody attends his funeral because nobody knows who he is. Kate doesn't want to go to his funeral (she hate's ben, of course). Jack says the body is neither "friend nor family" - the pieces all fit.

Yeah, I've heard that from a few different people so far, and it seems likely to me.

I don't know if you've watched the show yet, Zok, but I have to wait until after work today (if I can even find it online, because ABC doesn't stream the show to Singapore). I'll be so pissed if I have to wait a long time to see it. I've just gotten one of my friends here hooked on it and I've been watching through the first season again with him.

I've had the same problem with pretty much every show I've wanted to watch online. Adultswim.com no longer works either, possibly for the same reason, but I've been having to go to various fan sites to watch shows like Heroes. Just google "Watch LOST Online" and I'm sure you'll get at least a dozen viable alternatives to ABC's site.

Yeah, I found it on sidereel.com. It's loading up right now so hopefully I'll be able to watch it in like 30 minutes .

Ok. That episode was pretty much awesome. One of the best I've seen in a while--so fast paced and packed with great lines (i.e. Locke's interrogation of Ben). I think they were pandering a little bit to the fans there, but it worked.

Daniel seems like he's going to be a pretty cool character.

Locke was about to shoot ben because Ben couldn't tell him what the monster was. If I had been there, I would have too...lol

Seriously, Locke is one of my favorite characters merely because he sees the island as an enormous mystery to be solved, which, from the viewpoint of the fans, it is. That said, I think the upcoming season has a lot of potential to answer some pressing questions, not the least of which is "Why flashfowards? What is the deal with the timestream of the LOST universe, and what is up/wrong with it?"

I'll post more later, I suppose, but I was much pleased with the beginning of this season.

From a recent post-strike interview:

Quote:
What came out of your meeting with ABC today?
Cuse: Damon [Lindelof] and I are going to try and make five more episodes before the end of May, which is ambitious. But, we've found ourselves in situation where we had eight episodes of story planned, and we're going to try to fit that into five hours of the show. Even though it's going to be very hard to execute, we felt like any less would be doing a disservice to the story we had planned. We really want to give the fans the best possible experience and ending that we can to Season 4.

Any chance that the first of those five will air the week after that last pre-strike episode, thus eliminating any scheduling gap?
Cuse: No, there's probably going to be four weeks between the airing of the first batch of episodes and our new episodes.

What will happen to the three "lost" episodes? Will they roll over into next season's 16, or will they vanish forever?
Cuse: Damon and I remain committed to producing the 40 additional hours of the show that we promised. We haven't figured out exactly when we'll put those other three on, but we're not eliminating them from the show. You will get those three episodes downstream.

I know it's early, but have you decided what will have to get cut from this season's arc in order to accelerate things? Are we going to lose some flashbacks and/or flash-forwards?
Cuse: All those conversations will take place tomorrow when we actually start talking about story.

Is it possible that some guest actors you were planning to use before the strike may no longer be available now? Like, for example, Andrea Roth?
Cuse: Yeah, there are a lot of issues that have to get sorted out. We're also in the middle of pilot season... We're kind of figuring out what has happened to all of our actors who have gone on to do other things. Literally, there are cobwebs on the couches in the writers' room. Call me in a couple of days and I should have more answers for you.

HOLY CRAP! The end of that episode. Does this mean that Kate is a baby stealer?! What happened to Claire?

"A dingo ate your mommy..."

lol

But yeah, there must be some kind of baby stealing or something going on. I doubt that the writers would have Kate somehow later conceive a (really blonde) baby, and then name it Aaron. I mean, it could happen, but this isn't the kind of show to have that kind of a red herring.

I think two possiblities leap to mind - one, Claire dies and entrusts the baby to Kate (or Kate appoints herself the "new mommy") or two, there's some sort of "limited number of people leaving the island" where Kate is going but Claire isn't, and so Kate is entrusted to provide Aaron a better life off the island. Personally, I think Claire is too attached to the baby to give him up that easily. I'm going to guess that something happens to Claire. What that thing is, however, is totally up in the air.

I gotta say, that episode left me kind of, "meh." Maybe it was just because the pacing was so amazing the last few episodes and that they've been very plot-driven recently that when it slowed down and became more about character development it felt out of place.

edit: I mean really, the only plot device that came into play came in the last minute of the show. The rest of it was kind of filler. Of course there needs to be character development, but I'd rather see the development of the new characters at this point rather than the old ones. Maybe that's just me, however.

True. Personally, I've felt that Kate became a much less interesting character after season 1. I mean, some of the characters have a sort of ongoing mystery/story to them, but hers was pretty much front-loaded into the first season with the whole fugitive deal. I imagine that this episode was an attempt to bring her back into the foreground of "characters that have something going on." Other than her ass, of course.

Absolutely. Like I said, this scientist guy is really answering a lot of pressing questions, and, incidentally, strengthening a lot of my theories. He's like the new Locke, but better informed. And with fewer knives.

Okay, so that last episode was a bit confusing with what seemed to be a combination of flashbacks and flashforwards. Also, made me a little sad.

Man, I got up this morning hoping to be able to watch this online, but then I found out that they're not doing another episode until April 24th.

HORSESHIT!

I was pretty pissed off too. I actually missed the episode and expected to see it online this weekend. Because of that, I avoided this post until I found out. Either way, I'm kinda angry about it.
