Favorite/Least favorite anime thread

Name your favorite and least favorite anime and tell us why. If its taken maybe pick the next runner up to keep this a little fresh? if not its fine.

Favorite: Gantz- The story is different than the whole lets go save someone for some reason idea, but it has plenty of mind numbing violence and it keeps you watching. The anime let me down though they need to have someone go back and follow the manga exactly, like they did with hellsing.

Least favorite: Lucky Star- I have a habit of watching an anime to the end once i start but i never finished this one. The storyline(if you can call it that) never really interested me, maybe i just need to be in the mood to watch something like that before i do.

Favorite- Serial Experiments Lain. First real anime I ever watched. Mind numbing show. Great art, great music, great topic. One of the best parts is that they said more in 13 episodes than most shows can say in 200.

On that note- Least favorite. Tie between bleach and naruto. Seriously, storyline please? No one likes immature filler for 100 episodes except little kids, referencing naruto of course.

I don't know if I have a favorite. If I had to choose, it would probably be a three-way tie between Cowboy Bebop, Blue Submarine No. 6, and Code Geass. There's several more I'd like to add in there...it's rly hard to pick.

Least favorite, Angel Links. I tried very hard to like it because it was a spin-off of Outlaw Star, but it was terrible.

Why does anyone like anything? Anime has a strong following and has grown in popularity in the last decade.

Also don't confuse Anime with nonsense like Naruto.

favorite: uhhh... maybe cowboy bebop at the time, but I've seen them all too much over the years. Futurama is my favorite cartoon but it's not anime. Oh yeah FLCL, was awesome.. and I enjoyed the art in Ergo Proxy a lot. The story wasn't the best I don't think, but It was real visually satisfying. Also Shin Chan. I saw the first season and I thought it was great except the last bunch of episodes had some uninspired dialogue and the art actually got worse.. wow. I've seen a good deal of anime but I can't remember it all now.

Movie: Eternal Blue maybe haha... geeze there's this scene at the end where it's just like a drug trip and it impressed me that it was done so well. Miyazaki is basically the king of imagination though.

least favorite: I just can't watch anything where the characters are all effeminate and have super bug eyes. Code Geas is an example. I've heard good things but I can't stare at that for a series unless I know it's good. Elfen Leid was like that for me at first but then the awesome gorefest set in. For a real answer: Devil May Cry. I saw the first few eps and I was done.

Least Favorite: Akane-iro, Akikan, Zero no Tsukaima

its pretty unusual to have clannad as a favourite and air as a least favourite! cause aren't they really similar?

anyway, the anime for naruto and bleach are terrible, they're my least favourites

its difficult for me to choose the best since they're all good in their own way... for manga it's definately one piece, but since this is an anime thread i'm going to go with, byousoku 5cm, great animation and a nice storyline! makoto shinkai is a genius

Clannad and Kanon delved deep into the characters where Air just kinda tossed them out there and just said, there they are, feel sorry for them.

For example, I almost cried when Makoto died, but it was so superficial when, say, Michiru from Air disappeared and shit.

i see, i think the first couple episodes of air were more of a build up to get to know the characters, the story is quite sad. but i kinda agree, eventhough they had the character build up, perhaps there were too many characters? and as a result, it felt like they didn't have enough depth.

i don't dislike air, but it's not one of my faves. good to watch though, the animation (like for clannad and kanon) was great

Favourite is either Elfen Lied or Cowboy Bebop. Elfen Lied has gore and drama, but the ending of Bebop is legendary.

Least favourite is easily Naruto. One of my friends showed me an episode and I couldn't stand it. So, so bad.

Eva is a really good one to start out on though, so you are on the right track . Go for Serial Experiments Lain next.
