Default Best rifle for under $100?

I'm looking for the best rifles for under 100 USD. I was thinking the Russian Mosin-Nagant just because they are an old school Russian sniper and they are cheap as shit. BUT I think I want a gun that will shoot cheaper rounds. .22 cal or 9mm. Preferably one that has large capacity. I've seen some 50 round clips for semi automatic .22s.

Lets say under 150 just because.

.22's people say are pussy, but it will still kill a fucker so dont even listen. I personally like using .22's just because i have a really good shot with them no recoil, however i havent really used anything else.

I agree, everyone hates on them but If it holds ten rounds I could probably kill 10 of whatever I want to kill. No recoil and low noise is great too. Cheap ammo.

Also, I always get a little chuckle everytime I see your sig.

I agree largely agree with your Chunkanese. Regardless of what "I shoot a big expensive, calibre so I'm tough" people say, .22 is pretty decent. Hollow Point .22LR will go right through a person at ranges in excess of 200 yards.

For the OP, if you're interested in a center-fire rifle, worry more about the cost and availability of ammunition than the cost of the gun. The only way you're going to be able to get anything centre-fire for $100 is if it's used and -- likely -- in fairly poor shape. That being said, shooting center-fire ammunition, $100 will not get you very far at all with ammunition. In order to be proficient with a firearm and for it to be useful for you, you need to buy a decent amount of ammunition. Save your money and look around to see what's available in your area in the way of military surplus ammunition. Once you've figured that our, you can begin to make a decision on buying a rifle.

Yeah man, less recoil less noise is win for a gun. Im not going to be sniping from 2 miles out, i would want them to see whos doing them if i was ever pushed to having to use it on someone. Which i wouldnt, i just get a kick out of shooting objects made out of glass

The only serious rifles I can think of costing less than $100 or $150 are surplus Mausers and Mosin-Nagants. Either is decent for what you pay.

Hell I didn't know you could pick up a decent rifle for under $100. I own a savage .22 semi auto rifle from wal-mart. Put me down $120.

this thread is borderline retarded.

If you only want to spend 100, go for something used. Check pawn shops.

If you buy a semi auto pistol for 100 or less its either A)crap, or B)stolen

That and they are very inexpensive to shoot.

With the increase in prices for ammunition over the past eight months my twenty two has seen a lot of range time.

Federal 550 bulk -- $14.00 (average)

CCI minimag (100 count) -- $6.50 (average)

Cheapest 9X19 that I can find...

Winchester 100 count white box -- $20.00 (average)

i doubt that. I am sure it will have some decent penetration, and if it is hyper velocity ammo like cci and other brands have and it is shot out of a long barrel it will have good penetration but it is not going to go straight through someone at 200yds and over. I may be wrong but i am pretty sure at 200 yds a .22lr is going to be getting close to subsonic speeds or at them.

at over 50yds .223>.22lr Now .22 magnum is a different story it is quite a bit more powerful than .22lr.

.22's even hyper velocity ones are subsonic well before 100y, most go sub sonic inside of 50y IIRC. At longer range (100y - 200y) you get better performance with subsonic rounds, it's something to do with the transonic barrier.

.22mags are a waste IMHO, they cost just as much as .223/5.56 to feed, only offer a slight improvement over a .22lr and are generally quite inaccurate.

Check this out: http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubb...504301&fpart=1

Penetration is never really an issue with .22LR, unless you're dealing with armor or the side of a building or vehicle. The big problem with lower power rounds is the drop and wind, both of which affect accuracy. It's very hard to hit something at over 100 yards with .22LR, but if you can hit it, you can kill it.

mosin nagant.
Ammo is not cheap right now, but it's incredibly fun to shoot. Some of them are pretty accurate, but the round is pretty big for varmints...
While cleaning a new 91/39 round receiver, the barrel/receiver fell into my pool...Dived in and grabbed it, sprayed a buncha rust off on it, brought it to the range 3 days later and I hit a foot long steel target 3 times in a row at 400 yards.

if you get lucky, you might find an under priced rarer variant like an original m91 at big 5, and you could sell it to a collector for up to 300 depending on how bad he wants it...if you get REALLY lucky and get an original chattelerault m91(gooooood fucking luck), you could sell it for up to 500 depending on the collector..
