BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Arrest Made in Officer Shooting
Canton Police have arrested 20 year old Dominic Conley for shooting a Zanesville police office and his K-9 Bosco.
Conley now faces 106 years behind bars on 11 counts including kidnapping, burglary, felonious assault, and assaulting a police dog.
Conley faces a judge tomorrow in Stark County.
Last night Officer Mike Schiele recognized Dominic Conley as a man with outstanding warrants.
Police say when he tried to arrest Conley on Indiana Street, Conley resisted and there was a struggle.
Officer Schiele released his K-9 and then police say Conley shot the K-9 twice, once in the neck and once in the chest.
Police say Conley then shot Officer Schiele in the lower body and then ran away.
Conley is then suspected of carjacking a woman outside a nearby gas station while her 10 day old baby was in the car.
The woman and her baby survived with no injuries.
Conley's family members tell ABC 6 he went to their home, held them hostage, and even fired a shot at a family member.
Zanesville Police searched vacant homes in the Market Street area but could not find Conley.
Officer Schiele was treated at Grant Medical Center in Columbus and released earlier.
His K-9 Bosco is at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the Ohio State University where he underwent surgery and is stable but in critical condition.BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Arrest Made in Officer Shooting
