I hate this show and I hate Chris Hansen.

He seems to think that if it's written in law, then it must be right, and it applies in all cases.

I think it's wrong.

If a 17 year old girl basically forces herself on a guy, is the guy to blame? Are the girls' parents to blame? If nobody gets hurt, and everybody ends up happy, why ruin the guy's life?

I say if a 15+ year old girl goes online, talks to a guy that she knows is much older than her, and then invites this unknown guy over, insinuating that it's for sex.. if anyone should be punished, it's her parents.

It's similar to if a person goes online, contacts a burglar (and knows it's a burglar), and encourages him to come over at a certain time when nobody's home and rob his place, also saying that the front door won't be locked. Is the burglar still committing a crime in that case? That's debatable. And making something like that into entertainment? That's just in bad taste.

No, it's not. People know how to say no to sex, I for example get told to fuck off all the time (just kidding). I have two younger sisters, 10 and 14. One day, for the hell of it, they decide to hop a bus to a city miles away, to go to the beach, all alone, against their parents' will. I must have been standing downtown at night for 2 1/2 hours in a thunderstorm just praying to the empty sky no one kidnapped them. Do you know what faces I met when they finally got off the bus? They laughed in my face like it was a big joke. They laughed that I was worried and this is downtown at night, where I have seen fights, drug addicts, all kinds of fucked up shit, and my 2 sisters are smiling and laughing at my concern, not out of innocence, it's not that they didn't know what could happen. They laughed out of pure rebelliousness. An attitude that deserves no respect.... Here are two easy targets who could have been picked up easier than feathers laughing about the fact, THEN the 14 year old says she's going to do it AGAIN and goes again all alone by herself the next week. All alone! This is a kid that never even likes to leave the house, but decides to run away for absolutely no reason, it's as if subconsciously she wanted someone to pick her up. Agreeing with -Fuck- and Joshlikespenis a lot here, especially about how mature kids are now. 14 doesn't mean a little saint or some pure hearted angel to be protected. Often times they've done more and know more than their parents can even imagine. Thats not all of them, not at all, but many, for sure. Whether said parents want to believe it or not.

This show really does seem a lot like entrapment, and i haven't much ever liked it for that reason. i found some a playlist with (all? most? about 79 parts total) the episodes and watched pretty much all of them. From that i concluded:

Some of those guys are pedophiles.

Some of them seemed a little not quite right, mentally (be it handicapped or just needing help)

Some were just looking for sex. That was the majority that i saw. Just guys looking for sex. That doesn't make it right at all, but dance a chance to have sex out in front of someone who's desperate (most of the girls were claiming to be inexperienced virgins no less), and you'll catch yourself a lot of guys.

Again its not right that they don't have the sense to think,' hey, you're fourteen', and some of them are definitely pedophiles, but in other cases, its just some guys wanting sex. They aren't trolling for little kids, per se. People will do a lot of very bad, very strange things when they think they can get away with them. i do often wonder what the decoys said to them. Those guys online won't stick around unless there seems like theres a chance to score.
