Programing for a ten year old

So I have a friend that has a ten year old kid.
He is not a bad kid but he has some Major issues,he bit the principal at his former school , likes anything to do with computers so thought I could put together a PC with some basic programing stuff on it, what programs would you recommend?
I should also add that the computer is old ,gateway 1.2 meg 40 gig hard drive shit for video.
The kid is smart but lacks social skills he tested at a very high level for math recently, that's what got me thinking on programing if he could see what he can do then all his problems will go away.

I've pretty much forgot anything I ever learnt about programming since taking a course at college. It was pretty soul destroying writing out a 100 page step by step with screenshots guide to how I programmed a calculator in VB6, it kind of destroyed any enthusiasm I had prior to that. Ten is probably an ideal age to start learning, I wish I had somebody to get me started back then.
