What do you think of this? I was gonna start wearing clear contact lenses but colored ones seem to be much cheaper.

My eye color is brown, Any recommendations on colored contact lenses? Or should I just stick with clear contact lenses?

the colory ones are cheaper, but generally it's because they aren't prescription... just novelty. I'd be interested to hear about what the choices were. Anyway, it's not fruity, and I KNOW fruity.

I've worn contacts for years. One of the best things I ever did was swapping glasses for contacts, improved my quality of life no end and I don't think anyone has ever accused me of being in any way 'unmanly' for wearing contacts.

Like Crack Dealer I wear 'monthlies' ie lenses you keep in 24/7 for a month. Only problem with them is that you forget you're wearing them and find you should have changed them two months ago which is what THIS THREAD HAS REMINDED ME ABOUT!

I tried wearing hard-lens contacts for a while in 1972 or so, couldn't get used to them.

Soft lenses are out, due to my astigmatism.

Oh well--I been wearing glasses for like 55 years now, so I guess I'm used to them.

I'm'a get contacts. I look better without glasses. Getting new frames (free) this weekend though, so we'll see how those look.

Laser surgery is on the cards for the future, but it's just impractical for me to drop £2000 on anything right now. Well, I'm buying myself a £1500 present, but I worked all summer for that and I want it, dammit. Maybe at the end of next summer. I know you can get it from £400 per eye, but if I'm going to have surgery on my eyeballs I'm gonna pay for the best available (and the method with the lowest complication rate).

EDIT: And I'm not a pussy when it comes to eyes. I poke my finger 'round my eyeball to freak out eye-sensitive people sometimes and I've both licked an eyeball and had my eyeball licked. They taste salty. It's a weird sensation, both ways.

Just wait till you get an eye infection from em. Trust me it sucks balls, If you sleep in them it's a good idea to take one day off out of the week to let your eyes breath.

I wish I could sleep in mine, if I'm tired for some reason they shift around in my eye and end up making it just as difficult to see, and I get auras around lights. It goes away if I use visine though. And my vision is good enough to not really matter anyway.

Nah the old style 'hard' lenses you had to clean daily but nowadays the modern 'soft' lenses are pretty much self cleaning. You might take them out once a week to give them a quick rinse in saline but most people don't. Use for month 24/7 and then bin.

I dont necessarily think wearing contact lenses makes you a fruit or anything like that. A friend of mine wears contacts because he's a chef, and its a hell of a lot easier to wear contacts than have your glasses fogging up and slipping down a sweaty nose and having to push them up every 5 seconds.

Then again there are occasions where such a thing might be considered weird. An ex of mine from what seems like a lifetime ago now had a huge identity transformation soon after we broke up, turning into a 'goth', buying novelty contact lenses in black and red. To me it seemed tragic that he would go to such length to change his eyes to fit in with his new 'look'. From what I know he is still parading around society with this rediculous look.
