You take measurements of an asteroids path, and uncertainties with that measurement. You figure out how many paths it could potentially take.

And by you, I mean a computer would look at it. All about statistics.

What the hell is peoples fascination with bunk ass end of the world theories? I just don't get it. y2k, space invasions, 2012, flying space objects, Time traveling John Titor's, etc.
