I hate the idea of applying to a dead-end, pointless job, but they're hiring and I need money.

Anyone worked there? Is it a pain in the ass? Do you get any discounts?

Subway is franchised, so discounts and benefits depend on you specific manager.
I worked two years at an aussie subway, I really liked it. I quit after our manager got lax and hired people who didn't do their share of the work.
But overall, it's an easy job. Pay is fairly low (again, dependant on your manager) as is any fast food place - which is essentially what subway is.
The worst part is that you stink like onions and detergent after every shift. But it's an easy job and you rarely get a really difficult day.
I got a free 6" every time I worked and a 20% discount if the manager was there. If he wasn't, then my mates on the staff would give me stuff for free, as I did for them.
Overall, a job is a job, experience is great and money is necessary. So I say go for it.

I work in a sandwich place that isn't Subway so it's fucking awesome. Yes we don't really make anything, all the dressings etc. are from sysco and the breads come from deli boy... but it's still better than some franchised shit they package and call 'food'.

Redeeming quality of my place being that I just got my pizza oven so I've been making making pizzas the past few weeks.

Most of the people I see at Subway look pretty happy, in the "yay I can use this next paycheck to buy a gun and kill myself" happy.

Look at it this way you can "have sex" with women all day on the job, ejaculate in their sandwiches and wipe their salami across your ass crack. When you see a woman come out of the restroom you can get on your knees and lap up the toilet water, grime, etc.

Take evening classes or become an apprentice in a trade and then go self employed. I'm only passing the business off to my dad soon because his painting and decorating business has gone under and window cleaning isn't the nicest of jobs to be doing at his age; not to mention I've always wanted to be a firefighter and am going to persue it.

I don't understand why more people aren't willing to go self employed, well I can because there's times I don't get work for about 2 weeks, but I earn enough money to make a living and get to go abroad and do business because of my contacts.

Yeah, that's been my impression whenever I've gone there. They get a lunch-time rush, of course, but at other times of the day, those places are usually empty.

We used to have drive-through beer "barn", but it closed because of faggot Puritans. We still have one keg drive-through though.

I'd never want to work there. Too many people these days want all these special requests for custom fuck sandwiches.

But in all seriousness, give it a try. Every time I worked in any kind of food distrubting shit hole it was always places like that, fuck busy resturaunts & mcdonalds. My pizza job at dominoes was fucking awesome,just getting stoned and making pizza like it's ez-bake-oven. With only 1 busy night in my entire week of shifts.
