SWIM needs... haha. I'm kidding. I'm trying to go as small as possible.
What are your thoughts on:


- I'm going with 14/20 joints.

- Do I go with 3-way + therm inlet or a one peice with the therm threading on top?

- 25 distill/50ml receiving or 50/100ml?

- related to the above... small volumes, so what should I do for a condenser? Do I cheap out, or say what the fuck (remember, I'm a student, so I'm cheap, haha,) so; leibeg vs graham, and, short (100mm-ish) or medium (200mm?) or even long (300+)?

This may sound noobish but... is too long even a problem? I know if your jacket is too short it'll screw with how much you can condensate fast enough.
I feel like buying a bad ass one that's like 700mm. So is bigger better?


Also; I need a block adapter for my hot plate so I don't have to use a bath to heat my RB flasks. What am I looking for? I have no idea what they're called.

50 ml receiving and 100 ml distill

Trust me over time you will need bigger,1 L will become small!

It's all about scale...

If you are distilling a few mL of material (say >5 mL), I would go with one the one piece microdistillation setups which have the 10/19 joints.

See, when you start distilling 1mL into and 100 ir 250mL flask, the losses start to become rather significant.

Think about the scale you want to work on, and go from there.
