It's Actionscript's fault. Since AS2 it's been recommended, but I've never listened. AS3 is even stricter, but still lets you get away with it. It just seems silly that you don't have to strict type but it bitches about a semicolon ...

It's not normally a huge problem. The interpreter will usually give you an error and tell you roughly where the line causing the trouble is, even within thousands of lines of code.

But the error doesn't say "Missing Semicolon Line 10", it will throw a whole bunch of them on lines after the missing semicolon. So someone new enough to programming languages wouldn't know straight away what was going on...
