You're question is funny. I don't really understand exactly what you mean, but I think I get the gist of it and I find it funny.

Since I've got to my battalion, we've had 4 suicides, 5 accidental deaths, and exactly 0 KIAs. In my SOI company we had a kid die in the shower from complications due to meningitis. Everyone was spinal tapped. Almost right before I graduated SOI, someone in recon on a field op loaded a live round (by accident) in with blanks during a simulated attack. It shot through the BFA and killed the Marine on the receiving end. While we were at sea during a logistical replenishment, a Marine lost his hand when some kind of drum of fuel came undid from it's mounts and smashed it. That's reality. It may be a little different than what you're used to.

Exactly what's wrong with this. I find it amusing. You give these kids candy and they'll beat the shit out of each other for it like it was a free breakfast day at a New Orleans Denny's. If you don't give them shit they'll just go beg some other shitbird. If you do give them little candies or soccer balls or water they'll make like the fucking hobos and keep begging for more; it's a lucrative endeavor now

When we made trackfall on the Horn of Africa we were immediately mobbed by what had to have been at least 25 or 30 starving Ethiopian fuckers all trying to sell coke in glass bottles (which they'd try to get back from you so they could just fill them up and sell em again), and unfiltered cigarettes for $10 a pop. I think things were made worse when a dumbass LCAC crewmember gave one of them a fucking digital watch. These famished denizens mistook us for the salvation army.

So I never thought I'd say this to the group of people I envy most (civilians) but yeah, uhh, fuck you and your sheltered q-tip existence. If the job was to get as much candy, soccer balls, and bottled water handed out to the most worthless fleafuckers possible, you should've got the peace corps. In the Marines, a lot of the people I've generally come across can be categorized as "sheltered suburban q-tip kid who joined to do in real life what he did in call of duty". I'm not going to lie, that was me too (well maybe not so much, I did a little hunting/fishing/fighting/drinking/fucking type stuff). Boot camp does close to nothing to "strip away individuality and build a killer", the effect wears off right about when you graduate, and that killer stuff is a joke. The monologue in full metal jacket: "the marine corps does not want robots, the marine corps wants killers" needs to flip a bitch. The marine corps wants programmable robots. The dangerous thing about killers is that they think for themselves.

Anyway, everyone that joins the Marine Corps is always the best at what they do. I was lucky enough to have the Texas state high school wrestling champion in my platoon in boot camp. This guy was so tough, that one quick jab to the nose sent him down on the floor with tears in his eyes. Like I said, one tough sonofabitch. Everyone loves to talk about their past as a state wrestling champion or a cage fighter or gangster or quarterback or how much they were making before they joined the military, or the amount of pussy they got on a daily basis, or how many cops they've evaded in their Corvette C6. You get the idea. The Marine Corps is made of the most badass people on the planet ................ or pathological liars. One or the other.

So yeah, pretty normal I guess by totse/zok standards. Sure there are black sheep I guess. I've really only ever heard of people doing especially heinous stuff (like robbing banks with their issued flak jackets and kevlar helmets on). The occasional spousal abuse (which is almost never due to "PTSD"). Embezzlement (this one actually did happen). But it all really finds an outlet in petty stuff that really shouldn't be considered crime, like going UA and being belligerently drunk. The whole crazy nam vet walking up the steps of the clock tower with a sniper rifle is just something Hollywood made up. Except for when it's true.

There's plenty of people that say they'd like to, but chances are they've never even gutted a trout before. And most likely, even if they get deployed, will hardly ever take contact. Even if they're a grunt and going on patrols. I understand that this is because mostly of media involvement, but look at what 3/1 did in Haditha in '05. They just shot some fuckers and everyone was pissin bricks.

I am in the navy and I can say with certainty the most disturbing individuals I have met so far work on the flight deck. Not sure what the environment does in these dudes heads but they do sick shit to one another. They're kind of like marines.

As far as private pyle crazy I have yet to actually meet anyone that fucked up. We have people suicide occasionally (usually nukes) or jump over the side so they can get shore duty. That's about it.

Oh, an ABH (Aviation Bo'sun Mate "Hydraulic") got hit by an F-18 during our carrier quals...the navy sucks ass

im a marine also, and this is basically 100% true, im actually pretty astonished to see another marine who realizes this, i thought i was the only one

Army infantry and id have to say 99% of us are not exactly 'normal", we all are definatly have some shit messed up with us nothing major but really sick sense of humors among other things. As far as like "private pyle" flip out crazy i've not really met to many that are that kind of crazy. Theres just a lot of messed up things said done ect ect especially with prior marines and combat vets.

I don't know anyone that has pulled a Pvt Pyle but i've seen a few that you would definatly want to watch out for.
