Evening all, I am looking for some suggestions. Now the genre of book I am looking for is probably crime/thriller fiction.

To be more precise private detective novels but that of the classic view. As in the smokey office whiskey on desk.

Do you mean like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardboiled. I'm no expert in the genre so I can't recommend anything in particular. Why don't you just read the most famous books in the style and branch out from there?
