Default Military then college? or College then Military?

Which is better? I'll probably going to a college like ASU, or some party college with easy requirements... and I'll be joining the Chair force for a few years just for the easy pay and easy experience... But which should I do first? I got the money for college but should I do ROTC or whatever anyway? and how many years minimum do you have to do before quitting the military? If I join, I'll probably make it into a chair job since I'm no retard... help? I'm only 16

Talking Re: Military then college? or College then Military?

I'm going to be very honest with you.

The military is one of the best things to have on a political resume, it's also very good to have if you want a leadership position, or a job where you need your own initiative. That being said, it's one of the most miserable, ridiculous, fucked-up things you could do to yourself. I attended boot camp at TRACEN Cape May about 3 months ago. It was basically introductory to being the government's bitch. They will own you in boot camp. I had a 97 AFQT, a letter of recommendation from a general in the USAF, proof of volunteer work, etc- but I chose enlisted because I could "get to help people in a more direct manner."

During boot camp you're not allowed to look around. You will get punished for volunteering, you will get humiliated, smoked, and punished for no reason. You will be threatened, and used to living with all sorts of people in one big room. You will be broken down and built back up- as they want you. Near the end you will start to think like them, act like them, and perform like them. But you will lose a part of yourself.

If you're single, friendless, and without close relatives, I suggest you go enlisted. But if you can get the scholarship, go CO. Not just because of the better pay, more authority, and better reference, but because you won't have to lose a part of yourself.

I don't get it...if you've got the money for college, why on earth would you join the military?

Since you're only 16, you have a least one year to put some serious thought into this. I'm actually planning on joining the Navy or Army after I graduate college. My goal is to eventually become an officer.

You can look into ROTC, I have one friend in the Navy program and one in the Army program. I also have two friends who started ROTC and changed their minds after one year. From what I've heard on this website and from talking to my friends in the military, these guys get the least amount of respect early on.

BukkakeTsunami- Some people just want to join the military, it's not just for people who don't have any other options.
