How to tell if your iphone is being tracked?

Well long story short I overheard a conversation with my moth er and some lady talking about how they both don't know what there kids are up too ect, ect. She mentioned being able to go to the service provider and request some kind og GPS tracking that can be viewed online. Now thats a bit freaky IMO, and I sure as hell don't need her knowing exactly where I am at all times. How can I disable this or temporarily block out this signal. I was thinking just shut if off while I'm out but I'm wondering if theres anything else.

leave your iphone in your room when you sneak out at night(guessing thats what you are worried about) and borrow mommies cell phone until you get back in the morning.

If you don't want to be tracked, you need to get your own phone. One things is, however, by law, the service provider MUST send a free text message to every device being monitored so that the mobile user knows they are being monitored. The service requires a monthly subscription to FamilyMap.

op...you can turn Location off in system settings, and it supposedly disables GPS. I would suggest jailbreaking it if you are not afraid too. You will have a LOT more control over the phone and will have a blast with it.

You should probably already be aware if you are being tracked. AT&T has a family track service that uses gps and agps to track select phoneslines under the same family plan. The catch is it is linked through a AT&T URL. Parents can check where a phone is realtime. Past that they can set up schedualled times to record location to view later.

BUT! because of law or right to privacy issues, any phone line that gets tracked is sent a text letting them know what's up. They are also sent occassional MSG as reminders.

So now... Ask yourself. Are you??

The mobile user cannot be tracked unless he accepts to be tracked on the Iphone. Intermittent text messages are sent to the device from the AT&T system, and if they are not agreed to by the mobile user, the device cannot be tracked. This is for privacy reasons relating to the mobile user.

You need to take the battery out of your phone. I believe that can't be done on the iPhone though.

I'm pretty sure that if your the parent and owner on the contact. Then you can set up whatever you want on your other phones. Example: your kids phone.

You the parent will agree and sign off on so

Theydont have to text

Deleting everything and resetting will not so anything.

Disabling gps will not do anything.


Find out your parents account number. Personal info. And call the company pretending you are the parent. And ask them if you had turned onthar option because you don't remember.

You're right. Instead they stalk you the old fashioned way and get a search warrant on your ass. If it gets to that point, you have other problems.

But yeah. AT&T/Subsidiaries are obligated to periodically send that message to tracked phones provided you are a private citizen. If you have an old Cingular service transferred to AT&T after the takeover, you get a broken link [privacy notice] constantly texted to you that AT&T won't fix after their brand assassination of Cingular.

I'm not having a problem. I don't own such a faggy phone. I've got a Samsung Blackjack that has been dropped numerous times, and gets tossed in my pocket with bunches of crap and its been working great for 3 years. I don't need a fancy interface, or a sleek look to be happy with a phone. It makes calls and sends messages, and thats all I need it to do.

they are only 30$ on ebay. i have dropped an iphone OUT of the case and never had issues. i have known people who drop and throw them regularly and they STILL work just fine.

they are one of the most durable phones i have seen to date.

You seem to be missing the scope of this thread, which was established all the way back in late 2009. Tracking by government entities is definitely not in the same league as an account holder requesting a tracking service for an associated phone.

Issues such as these is a reason why I do not have a phone. You save a lot of money and you realize how worthless most day-to-day text and phone conversations really are. There are plenty of ways to make free texts and calls assuming that the receiver already has a satisfactory plan set up. In fact, so many people have web access readily available that you can contact them through social networking sites (that bring their own host of problems that can be ameliorated, one way or another).

Companies such as AT&T and others can use the IMEI # to easily track the phone using the cell towers and what not. If someone steals a person's phone, the police can use the IMEI to track it even if the locations is turned off. That doesn't mean the lazy pigs will get off their fat asses and actually check it since they supposedly have "better" things to do. Look it up.
