Default Supernatural (spoilers)

Ahh...what a great show. I started watching it 2 years ago. I've DVDs of the first 2 seasons and watch them now and again. It's funny how it's really formulaic (ie. strange occurence in the intro-->20-30 minutes of mystery-->villain is revealed-->villain is killed-->2 minute recap at the end), yet also manages to stay pretty fresh with the villains, and relatively unpredictable. I mean, you know that Dean and Sam will both be okay at the end of just about every episode, but it's still a pretty good ride.

The season finales tend to be especially good, since there's usually some genuine tension. My favorite thus far is the first finale. There was some genuine tension when they were in that cabin at the end, and the final shot of them in the car (with Bad Moon Rising playing) was unforgettable. The most recent finale was good, though I imagine that only teenage girls were actually worried that Dean was going to be gone for more than one episode (and as it turned out, he was gone for like 5 seconds of screentime). But yeah, like I said, I'm surprised at how fresh they manage to keep the writing. They've had 72 episodes up until Season 4, and surprisingly Season 4 is not only strong, but some of the episodes are even better than the ones in Seasons 1-3.

The acting has had some bumps along the way, and Jensen Ackles has always been a better actor than Padalecki, but now I'd say they're both getting pretty good at it.

What do you guys think of the show? If you haven't seen it, I strongly recommend it. Like I said, it's a pretty formulaic TV show...but it isn't pussied down that much (considering it's on the WB, or CW, or whatever it's called), it's funny, one of the two main characters is a "man's man", and there's plenty of entertainment to be had. If I had to compare it to anything, it's like the masculine, post-college version of Buffy (which was a pretty solid show, aside from the girl-power shit).

Ah, finally someone made a topic about this. I have to say that this is my favorite show on right now and has been since it started. I have all three seasons on dvd and watch them more than from time to time. To be honest, there's not much I can say about the show that you already haven't. I've tried to explain it to a bunch of people and the only reply I get is that "It's two hot guys driving around in a car and there's ghosts. What's the big deal?" But theres more to the show than that. To me, it's more about the brothers relationship than anything else. Sure, the different badies they face every week is kinda awesome too. I've always been a fan of the supernatural anyway so this show really worked out for me. It has everything from the occasional scare, not many but some, to comedy to being serous. All wrapped up in one neat little package. Now off that, what was your favorite episode so far and what do you think they'll do for the rest of this season, if you're still following it?

And yeah, two hot guys is a bonus!
