What are the Major Currencies in the World Economy?

What are the major currencies that play the biggest role in global economics?

On my homepage I have links to graphs for the USD to Pound Sterling and Euro conversion rates, along with that of Dow Jones, which I use to get a general idea of how the economy is doing. Obviously this isn't very accurate because I'm only comparing three things that make up only a portion of the global economy.
So, what other currencies should I be tracking?

I don't know but I'd guess at USD and Euro

Well most currencies when done in an article or some shit are done converted to $(US) or £(GBP). They convert some to Euro aswell.

Basically those three are the only ones you need to worry about but if you wanna be specific i'd look at maybe chinese yuan aswell. But as i said before they usually just convert the amounts into those stated above....

And Chinese Yuan, Japanese Yen and Russian Ruble also worth keeping tabs on imo.

I was just thinking, and wouldn't a good way to be able to see how a particular currency/economy is doing is by looking at what the price of gold is in that currency?

no i never think about that because i know that they do this for a fact. i dont get what the point is that your making....

Sadly I fear that sterling may not be dominant for much longer. It's real world applicational value is waning. Americas $ has value because of the oil trade, but also the countries size gives it worth, britain cannot say the same, especially now the euro is showing its worth.
