Default Can someone offer me advice on college for animation?

I am currently torn between three schools for animation. Calarts, Columbia, and Kent in the U.K.. Columbia really impressed me when it said that I own the copyrights for anything I do while in school there. So, does anyone know which one would be best? Did anyone here attend any of them?

Technically you should own the copyrights to stuff you do anywhere in the UK. I was told by my film class lecturer that the university will probably try to tell you otherwise, but ultimately it's yours. The minute you threaten a lawsuit they back down. That's what I heard, anyway.

I know that doesn't help much, but it's a start.

You should ask what programs they work with. If they mention 3d Studio Max, Maya or even Zbrush then it'll be a good course.

Those are the ones I use now and I would prefer it to stay that way. I don't really want to use some school's in-house program or anything other than what is mainly used. Thanks for the reply! And by the way, thanks for the info about the UK.

If we don't give you the answers, let me know and I'll move your thread to the education forum. It's valid in both.
