I never got a chance to play The Orange Box
..until now. I bought it at release, but never got a chance to play it. It's a fucken beaudy! I've played a couple minutes of the awesome Half Life 2, where I'm up to the rooftop escape, and the game has been wowing me the whole way - but is it really this linear? It's still going to be pretty cool. I hope there's hours worth of this stuff because it's a very well put together and well polished game.

Re: I never got a chance to play The Orange Box
Here's my opinion of the Orange Box.
Half-Life 2 w/ expansions = Awesome.
TF2 = Reason I bought the Orange Box,sweet game.
Portal = Ok puzzle game (I hate puzzle games and this still applies no matter how many stupid "characters" you throw in).

What game were you playing to put off the awesomeness of half life 2 for so long?

Re: I never got a chance to play The Orange Box
Well, a large portion of the game consists of you driving along the European seaside, giving it a very epic feel. Hell, the entire game has an epic feel to it. It is indeed linear, but it never really bothered me at all during the game, and you can go and explore any area that you can reach.

Re: I never got a chance to play The Orange Box
Episode 2 is incredible. The end is probably one of the coolest "boss fights" I've ever played in a game.

Re: I never got a chance to play The Orange Box
Episode 2 has got to be one of my best gaming experiences ever. Epic is an overused word these days, but there really is no other way to describe the finale battle. My only complaint is the lack of G-man, but he'll probably be back in Ep3.
If Valve has stopped at the original Half-Life, I still would have considered them a great developer. Since then they've continued to amaze me over and over again. They've done more for gaming than any other company out there.
Valve <3

You're not missing much. The Orange Box is probably the most over rated game pack since those retarded packs Blizzard released with Diablo and Warcraft and whatnot.

Yes, if only. But they just had to go and screw up the legacy of the original Half Life by wrapping it into a retarded story and making into a soap opera with a new episode released weekly. Oh good, fuck Gabe Newell's fat mother. Guy should be cleaning toilets.
