Is this Arson?

SWIM used an atm and set the receipt on fire and unwittingly threw it in the trashcan next to the atm. The trash in the trashcan caught fire and swim and random female take off running to the car. 10 minutes later the police and fire department show up @ the scene. Should SWIM be worried about an investigation and charges?

Yes, it's arson. Unless there's a considerable amount of damage done which would need to be paid for by someone who could press charges, I wouldn't worry.

You should be worried, but not too much. If the cops get you, just confess and say it was an accident. They'll just tell you to pay for the can, instead of arson charges.

Yeah atm has cameras, so hopefully your car was out of view. If the Atm is fucked up you can expect and investigation, or if your city has nothing better to do.

As long as the ATM wasnt damaged you should be fine. Cuz if it is they will think you tried to rob it and that is not good

I wouldn't be too worried about it, as said the most they'll do is make you pay for damages.

that's a relief; the car was definitely out of view and the guy whose story i'm telling is fairly confident the atm was not damaged. The whole camera at the atm thing was the primary concern if there is an investigation.
