Default Springfield XD sub-compact

Who owns/has shot one of these? I went to the range yesterday and rented a couple XDs, but they didn't have the sub compact, 3 inch one. I'll need a gun for concealed carry in the next month or two and am considering one of these. Any problems? Hows accuracy? Reliability? Any other handguns around this size to recommend?

As someone who owned a 4" XD40 for about 4 years now, I'm going to tell you not to waste your time and money on the tiny little 3 incher.

It's too small to get a good grip on and to shoot under stress.

Trust me, you want the 4" barreled XD.

I'm pretty sure Ilovechronic will tell you the same thing.

With my XD40 I use a Don Hume First Agent holster and the gun disappears under a t-shirt.

And I'm 6'1" and weight 150 pounds, so it's not tucking itself in any fat rolls, lol.

Another thing, the gun was originally designed as a 4" barreled gun.

And I'm not really a fan of deviating from the original design too much.

Agreed, go with the next size up. If you need something conceable a subcompact is a bad choice anyway. They are still the same size but with less grip and less barrel. (bulky) I love my 4" xd. I have a xd-9 4". i havnt really felt out the subcompact but i have smaller hands so my hands would probably fit it but i am fine with the full size. they are great guns, reliable, accurate, etc.
