Thumbs Up Cheap, Durable Clothing That Doesn't Look Like Ass?

Ok, so basically I am going to go backpacking around Europe next year for as long as possible. On the cheap like, nothing fancy and money fueled; seeing how people live, a few sights and so forth. Now, apart from some essentials, I can imagine I'll need durable clothing as it gets dirty and damaged beyond savior.

So, does anyone know/have any suggestions of clothing that is both cheap and durable, but won't leave me looking like a complete dork?

Thank you kindly .

Do you mean sights? You been on the internet too long bro.

Can't really go wrong with some strongish canvas pants. Zipoffs depending on temperature, but you won't look like a pimp wearing them. If you're not looking to spend much then you're probably looking at something similar to cargo pants in terms of durability, with or without the pockets depending how spastic they look.

Shirts are shirts. You're going to want a decent pair of shoes though.

God fucking damn it. My brain is totally addled .

Yeah I was thinking I'd be basically wearing cargos and some form of long sleeved shirt all the time. It's just finding inexpensive ones here in England. It's impossible.

Or Vinnies or the Salvoes if you have them over there. Second hand clothing stores can be pretty good for generic pants.

Cargo pants? Some kind of long sleeve T shirt? Zip offs?

Fucking disgusting. You know who wears zip-offs? Fat, middle-aged, middle-class balding men. The epitome of mediocrity. The pinnacle of disgrace.

You want to look cool doing the whole backpacker thing.... This is what you'll need.

Surplus parka, M51 style.

Couple pairs of jeans, fitted, to be thrashed and never washed.

Pair of 'Dr Marten' style boots, or motorcycle boots, plain leather boots...

Pair of tennis shoes/plimsolls/vans

Pair of shorts, above the knee, just go buy some from the salvos and cuff them

Handful of worn in t shirts, try and keep them slim fitted and no gay slogans or logos... vintage band tees and plain colours are the best

One or two long sleeve shirts, not white and not fucking black. Again, not baggy bullshit, fitted, and as they are not going to be tucked in, they should not have long front or back tails

There's the bare basics done. Now, depending on what you want to do and where you want to go, I would recommend the following...

Pair of dress slacks or jeans (could be one of the aforementioned)
Pair of dress shoes (loafers or black leather winklepickers, perhaps boat shoes)
Decent leather jacket or peacoat or blazer
Dress shirt (might be one of the aforementioned)

These items will allow you access to places the first set of essential items may not.

Not too sure about the climate there, I know it's much colder than here though... Just ask if you need more help.

Them shirts are featured heavily in thrift stores. Unless you cut your hair though you are going to look like a mentally ill person, possibly a paedophile. Unless you have heaps of drugs. Then you'll be cool.

If you want cheap and durable clothes, try looking round Peacocks/Primark.
I know they're not the trendiest places in the shopping world but they're cheap and you'll more than likely be able to find something that looks half way decent.

When we went to India a few years back, me, my brother and our mates all hit Primark just to get clothes that, if they got fucked up or we needed extra storage space in our bags for shit we bought, we could chuck them without thinking about the money aspect. I'd rather get rid of a 4 pair of jeans than a pair of Levi's.

I travelled throughout the Middle East, North Africa for about two months and all I had were a couple pairs of cargo pants, a couple pairs of decent jeans, and some SOLID Timberland shoes. I wore lots of cheapish long sleeve button down shirts, that help with protecting my body from the sun. Along the way I bought some clothes in Egypt because cotton clothes were dirt cheap there... talking about $4 shirts and $10 jeans... just to have clean clothes not the most stylish but clean for being in respectable places (of which I visited few however)
Um depending on the season you're travelling in I'd say think about layers. You can't really go wrong with a few inexpensive button downs that are decent fit. You might get them dirty but if you're trekking who really cares.

Best of luck

Don't cheap out on clothes. Unless you're below the poverty line, don't buy shitty clothes.

Reasons to dress well;
- You'll make a better first impression when you meet people.
- You're more attractive to teh wimmenz.
- you'll feel more confident because you don't look like something the cat coughed up.
- You only live once. Why wear fucking army clothes (as some have suggested) and look like a total faggot?

Disagree. All my jeans have holes worn in the crotch far before anywhere else is even remotely worn. Jeans last six months, tops - I have a pair of Levis that have lasted about a year.

I still wear them with the holes, like, it's just annoying.

Just wear a 10 pair of trousers and 15 shirt that's 'tailored' - you'll see these in high street stores, just means the waist is tapered in so if you're not a fat cunt go for these they look 100% better. It'll look way smarter than the jeans n' t shirt brigade.

"Hilarious" but incorrect. I'm 6'1", 75kgs.

Admittedly I do have larger-than-average thighs from cycling, though.

Sure you do, bro. I wear jeans and have muscular legs, how come there's not holes in the crotch of all my pants? Fat people get that from their thunder thighs rubbing together all day. Muscular legs still don't chafe each other.

Buy cheap jeans that last ''only'' 6 months, when there's holes in them buy a fuckin new cheap pair. That's way more affordable than buying expensive clothes.

Most people exhibit an irrational distribution of muscular tension when moving in our societies.

Part of the reason why people move so retardedly is because we grow up trying to imitate other people and the way that they move. The movement of bipedal primates is already rather irrational to begin with because our constitution is so unsteady; but the problem is exacerbated by the fact that we try to imitate people who intentionally alter their movement so as to impress others.

Under ideal circumstances, a child will grow up moving in a logical fashion, in the way that hominids were made by natural selection to move. He will not imitate his parents because, under ideal circumstances, there will be no pressure to adopt man-made ideas of what is "proper" or what is "cool."

Un-controlled, automotive human movement involves a complex series of perfectly timed contractions of muscles and this can only happen if someone is not trying to do it. Whenever humans "try" to move, the parietal lobe itself shuts down and with that goes all of the power of the body. The result is a slowly-executed series of motions frequently interrupted by the breaking action of opposing muscle groups simultaneously contracting. This results in less force being developed for the purpose of movement and more force being developed for the purpose of not moving, in other words, more force is being applied directly to tendons themselves, rather than being transferred quickly across muscle groups. This puts a great deal of strain on clothing, which accelerates it's destruction.

To begin to move properly you have to clear your nervous system out and let it revert to a semi-undeveloped stage. Any movement you take is recorded by the nervous system and the information is stored there for a very long time, and you can only rid yourself of this 'faulty' information by taking a complete break from moving as you normally do. This means you need to do a lot of hypnotizing yourself, and you need to expose yourself to the ASMR phenomena, which clears out your nervous system of any prejudiced motor phenomena. When I was a younger I spent a great deal of time laying in my bed, having others count coins, reciting poetry, drawing, etc. in front of me while I tried to remain as limp and non-controlling as I possibly could. I let my BODY take over. After a very long time I was able to tame myself psychologically and my body became more reflexive and from there I was able to develop a totally new way to move based entirely on my body's reflexes. This is one, but by no means the only way in which I was able to rid myself of all of the constraining ways that were passed on to me (in one way or another) by society. I now let my body and my instincts control what I am in every single way, and my life has become all the better for it, because what I am was created by something that is infinitely more powerful than the person who I used to be, the person who was created by the rest of the world: NATURE.

I would, but due to 'fashion' it's almost impossible to buy cheap, plain jeans. The only cheap jeans are sold by places like Primark, and they're fashionably pre-ripped, pre-aged, stained, or have a big logo on them. The only place I could find cheap (like under 35) plain straight-cut jeans was ebay, and they don't fit very well.
