Red Dead Redemption
There's a new trailer out that shows gameplay and I must say it looks pretty good. I've always wanted a free roam western game.

Anyone else excited for this game?

Even if this ends up just being 'GTA in a western setting', it looks fucking sweet.
This is a must buy for me.

Re: Red Dead Redemption
Ooooooooooooooh! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH! My heart already flutters! That looks like a fucking sweet game. It looks like it captures the atmosphere perfectly, and the production qualities are way up there. Hopefully the control is good and the AI doesn't suck, but it looks like the combat gameplay could be well-judged.
I must play this game. Some day.

i really liked the first one, and i got even more excited for this one to come out after watching OP's video.
There taking the game in the right direction, if they pull it off, its going to be super cool.

...So basically a Call of Juarez rip-off?
Except Rockstar is doing it this time so there's a better chance of it being good...

As much as I loved Red Dead Revolver I think Gun 2 will be better if it is ever created.

Some of the gunfighting was a bit... "cheap". A lot of guys could take a million billion bullets before dying, and it was hard to just get a quick headshot and move on.
It was decent, just a few details held it back.

Ive never played the first one but I personally believe that it has way less to do with this game than we were led to believe. I believe that when they started the game it was going to be based on the idea that they wanted to make a gtaish game in the wild west and then they just kind of tacked on the red dead part because they already owned the franchise. Besides, I remember reading that the original red dead was started by a japanese company but then rockstar bought it and finished it.

This looks good. I have Call of Juarez and i find it boring as hell. The controls were just a bitch, and i didnt find it really even captivating just a bit in any way.

Well, if you go looking through other threads of RDR and come across a link to an interview with Dan Houser, what happened was they were toying with the idea of a GTA-style western, but instead bought up the rights to the game from Capcom. They basically finished the game and that was that.
So, no. This looks like it'll be Rockstar's full realization of their original ambitions.

Re: Red Dead Redemption
Fuckin loved this game, played it almost every day one semester senior year. I kept getting sidetracked being a bad guy, especially to start, but the story mode isn't too hard. It goes pretty quick if you dont watch all the scenes, but I also feel like that's a part of it, so every now and again I'd watch them.
I don't feel too bad giving a spoiler, its an old game, but
I think it's pretty fucking stupid that you play as the son at the end of the game. He's half the man his father was. It'd be neat if he aged the longer you played... like, no missions or nothing, you can just go on being a badass, and after 1 hour he ages a year, etc etc until he slowly withers away. And he should be allowed to fuck women.

Yeah one of the best games ever made, at least my favourite ever console game.

Thought it worked well as ending to the story, good emotional impact, and then the son lets you carry on if you want to finish challenges etc.

Is that better than both? I haven't made it to Mexico yet, I'm trying to make a lot of money and do the challenges.

way better, you get to choose the targets (aim and press LB to mark them) even better if you have moonshine or anything that refills your dead eye and also used in conjunction with the deadly assassin outfit (you only get that outfit if you pre-ordered that game or have the GOTY edition game)
yeah i had like 30 hours on the game before i even got to mexico, i hunted a lot and picked herbs, am barely getting to the 3rd area with about 50,000 in cash. Some challenges cant be completed until you reach the 3rd area, which is after you finish up all the stuff in mexico. Some animals and herbs are only found in Tall Trees

I'm wearing the Deadly assassin outfit for the bonus recharge but I still prefer l1 it's so much better if a little bot slower, I'll just have to see about l3.
