Need Help? Got A Question? Check The Compendium!
READ THIS FIRST!
This compendium was made to help you get a fast response from someone who knows what they're doing, and find threads that could have your interest.
Important threads will be linked to as they appear, and the compendium will be expanded when possible.
Below this text, you'll find a long list of sections each containing a list of posters with knowledge in certain areas, so if you need help with a sick pet fast, the first thing you should do read the " WHEN ASKING FOR HELP" section, find the appropriate subsection, and carefully read the questions to answer before you make a thread - doing so, will cut down on the information the two (or more) of you will need to exchange, before they can help you.
Answer as many questions as possible, don't worry if you don't happen to know the exact Latin name and so on, but it'll often help a lot if we're dealing with exotic animals.
Oh, and remember; these people are helping you for free.
Immidately after you've posted your thread, send them a PM, and include a link to your thread!
By making a thread you'll possibly help others in the future, if it ends up containing enough info we can't afford to lose.

Re: Need Help? Got A Question? Check The Compendium!
Under Birds, you could list the following:
- Species(number and type, etc.)
- Age & Sex
- Cage Size, Type, and Placement in Your Home
- Perches, Toys, & Other Accessories(cuttle bones, spray millet, etc.)
- Feeding Regimen, Dietary Provisions
- Personality(Does your bird draw blood and cackle after doing so?)
- Social Activities(Do you play with your bird?)
- Long-Term Health Concerns(Is your bird missing a foot?)
Also, under Fish, I would appreciate it if you included ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite next to water parameters. I guarantee that at least half of the questions we may receive regarding the trouble-shooting of water quality will relate to the nitrogen cycle.
Thanks.

You could sign me up for anything relating to cat or dog nutrition, I work in a pet health food store, so I should be able to answer most questions. Although, I may only be checking messages once every day or so.

Re: Need Help? Got A Question? Check The Compendium!
I figured this would be as good a place as any to post this. I have noticed a few dog breed threads lately. Maybe we could sticky a thread where people could share what they know about certain breeds and mixes? If this is okay just let me know, I could start the thread if you want.

Re: Need Help? Got A Question? Check The Compendium!
^^Can't see why we couldn't, it'd still be nice to have some breed specific threads though, to add to the compendium.
But go ahead and all that jazz, and I'll sticky that mofo when I spot it.
Well, if xxombs doesn't beat me to it.

I worked at an aquarium for about 3 years. I've forgotten half of it, but I might still be helpful if you want to add me to the list.

Re: Need Help? Got A Question? Check The Compendium!
^^I don't want to sound like the Almighty Asshole of F&F, but in order to maintain the integrity of the compendium I did a search on your posts in this forum. I can only find 5 posts from you, and none of them are especially in-depth - the other posters that have been added are well renowned members from Noah's Ark on Totse or have contributed with something significant here in F&F.
I'm not saying you don't know your stuff, as I have no way of knowing...
I'll be happy to add anyone (and so will my co-mods) with a good track record, but I simply have no basis for adding you as it stands right now, sorry.

Re: Need Help? Got A Question? Check The Compendium!
I don't really check this part of the forum and ill admit it.
But I do know a fair bit.
I am very experianced with large dogs (GSDs in particular) and bearded dragons though.
If you don't want to add me, then I understand.

Re: Need Help? Got A Question? Check The Compendium!
^^From what I have to work with right now, there's simply not enough to justify it, but how about making a thread about Bearded Dragons and share some pics and tips - there's others here who keeps them and I'm sure it could turn into something great, but someone'll have to plant the seed.
Or, how about sharing some knowledge on German Shepperd's? as far as I know they're used as work dogs in a boatload of fields, but some can have a tendency to go batshit insane (why is that?), I'm sure we could all benefit from a thread about those as well so just knock yourself out, I'd really hate to be unable to expand the amount of info and contacts here, simply because I couldn't justify adding a poster that might know something the rest of us don't.

Put me up for turtles & salamanders, haven't posted here lately but I'm starting up my turtle tank again in a few months. I also know a lot about tank construction and low maintenance natural filters, if anyone needs help with a freshwater filter set up.

Re: Need Help? Got A Question? Check The Compendium!
Well, there will probably never be a thread about it but I can provide info on several critters that range from centipedes, scorpions, praying mantises, pseudoscorpions, whip scorpions (vinegarroons) locusts, crayfish...
While I rarely kept any of those as "pets" for too long, I did pretty much grow up surrounded by all of them and know their behaviour, data, myths, habitats, requirements; etc, should you want to keep them.

Nice, soft amphibians aren't commonly kept - and from what I know they aren't easy either, so it's good to have another poster to add to the list.
Would it be accurate to list you under Amphibians/salamanders, and Reptiles/Turtles?
I assume it would be appropriate to include "tank construction experience" to both categories?

How about I list you under "Terrestrial Invertebrates"/common in Southern part of North America, and "Aquatic Invertebrates"/crayfish...
Would that be accurate?
BTW, Thanks both of you!
