Re: Ask a bored MMA fighter anything
Yes, You get more confident. Some guys go to far with it and become cocky. They often are the cans of mma.
mma fighters don't screw in light bulbs, they smash them.
Carmon Sandiego is at zoks house in his closet.
Brock Lesner is a chump, Mashima win.
I've had 2 bad concussions.

Be careful, brah.
I was doing quite a bit of ground sparring with my friend who does jiu-jitsu last year. It was really fun, I'm gonna sign up for it this year and get actual lessons.
People are always trying to fight me to so it will probably be useful

Re: Ask a bored MMA fighter anything
Yeah, I tend to think it was the cocktail of drugs he was on more than the concussions though. I don't take chair shots to the back of the head either.
My diet is mostly natural foods. I cook everything I eat from burgers to chicken to whatever else. My favorite filler is to take a bunch of veggies, fruit, and a bunch of OJ and blend it together to where it kinda looks like baby shit. OJ tends to kill the taste of just about everything. That keeps me slim enough to where I don't have to fight to hard to get to my fighting weight.

It all depends on the level you take it too. Ramon Dekker destroyed his ankles because he kicked with everything he had every time he kicked. If you are talking about the shin conditioning then I'd have to say that no, its not self destructive if you aren't a fool about it. But with that said any combat sport is going to be rough on your body. Wrists get hurt, fingers and toes get broke, ect ect.

None, Tapout shirts are for dildos and posers. Very few actual fighters wear that shit unless they are getting paid to do so. With that said id be a Tapout wearing sellout if they sponsored me.

It's possible. Out of the 9 years I've been doing MMA in general, I haven't gotten into 1 street fight.

But there are fight shirts I do ware without getting paid for it because I'm either friends with the guy or I believe in their gear. Sprawl does excellent shorts, I've had the same pair of sprawl shorts for about 5 years now. No rips or anything.

Yes, mostly what my buddy calls "ring rats". A lot of respectable girls tend to think of fighters as brutes or whatever. They like the prospect of a bad boy, not an actual bad boy. But the ring rats... They will just come up to you after a fight and flat out hit on you, ask you for your number or whatever. Milfs, teens, all of them. My girlfriend does not approve.

How many calories do you eat a day, and do you lift weights? If yes then do you lift and stay the same weight while getting stronger?
edit: I remember you made a thread like this and a video of one of your fights in weapons and combat on totse.

Re: Ask a bored MMA fighter anything
How tall are you and how much do you weigh?
How long did you spend training before your first legit MMA fight?
What's your w/l record so far?
And yeah, describe your training during a typical week

Re: Ask a bored MMA fighter anything
Calories depend on if I'm training for a fight. I like to keep it around 2000 to 2500, then taper off as needed. 3500 is a pound of fat so if you have the time you can drop 500 cal a week easy and lose some body fat.
I lift a lot of weights. At at certain point I have to stop because I end up gaining more weight than I want. Higher reps lower weight helps with keeping my strength up while keeping my mass down.
That was probably in my old kickboxing days. Or maybe it was my first mma fight I don't remmeber which one I posted.
I'm 145 and 5'2. I fight at 135.
I start training as soon as I hear about the fight. So, normally about 2 months out.
My MMA win/loss record is 6 and 3. Mauy Thai record is 8 and 4.
My training depends on if I have a fight. If I have a fight I almost stop the heavy lifting. And switch to high reps low weight. In the mornings I go to the gym and do 15 min of conditioning. Running on max incline with 5lb weights in my hands for 5 min, then 90lb of chains on my shoulders while I go up the stair master for 5 min, then maybe the bike or shadow boxing. Once 7pm rolls around I go to either BJJ or MT for 2 or 3 hours and get some more work in. I've been going to do conditioning in the morning around 10am, then going back at 4 with my roomie for weights, then at night for technique, but that's been draining the shit out of me and I cant keep up that pace.
If its just a regular week I go once a day for heavy lifting 3 or so times a week then to MMA.

Re: Ask a bored MMA fighter anything
Have you seen a neurologist recently (just sometime after you stopped fighting)? Is everything okay? I work with mentally disabled people, and some of them I work with because they used to be professional boxers.
Do you have as much control over your motor functions or whatever as you did before?
EDIT: How many serious blows to the head have you taken?

Re: Ask a bored MMA fighter anything
How long had you been training before you started fighting?
I'm guessing you're an amateur fighter. Do you have a full-time job? What do you do?
How many hours a week do you contribute to training/MMA related?
Can you describe the experience of your first fight? Getting ready for the fight, the fight itself, and what you learned?
You're a small guy. I'm assuming you train often with guys much larger than yourself. Do they initially take you for granted? How does that turn out? Or do they work you over by sheer size alone?
Why did you get into MMA?

The term MMA fighter or MMA classes is for dildos and posers, have fun with your Tiger Schulmann quality instruction in your 20th generation MMA azzkikr class.

Re: Ask a bored MMA fighter anything
You really don't take as many serious blows in mma as you do in boxing. I've lost none of my motor skills or have become punchy.
If I said I was a pro you wouldn't believe me so sure, I'll say amateur.
I probably train 20 or 25 hours a week. Going to my actual gym is harder but I do things outside of it like shadow box or work on my shooting.
Everyone in my gym is larger than me except for the girls. You get a new guy every once in a while who comes in and sees a small guy and thinks, shit this is gonna be cake. Everyone else knows better. Technique trumps strength and if they are SUPER strong, I'll just either work their legs or gut. No new person can go more than a min or two sparing without keeling over. They try to use size, but that only works against people who don't know what they are doing. Don't get me wrong, the big dudes who are better than me still use their size to their advantage. My instructor is 185 pounds of muscle and he knows how to put every pound on you to where you cant move.
I didn't mean to get into mma, I actually only wanted to start muay thai. I was home on the internet and my buddy showed me this anime called Hajime No Ippo, or the fighting spirit in the USA. I thought, man that looks like fun. My roomie at the time and I picked up a phone book and it just escalated into other things.
As for the last question, yes you are generally right. Anyone who puts "MMA classes" on a gym door is most likely not very good. But the reason I put it because its easier to just type mma instead of brazilian jiujitsu and muay thai.

Re: Ask a bored MMA fighter anything
I'm a boxer and I'm curious. Why aren't there taller guys fighting in lower divisions?
I'm 6' and I fight at 140-145, although I'm at 160 right now . But when I see guys in MMA at my weight they're only 5'8" or so at the tallest. Is this due to the different type of strength needed for the ground game?

Re: Ask a bored MMA fighter anything
Knowing you're an MMA fighter and you can take down 99+% of ordinary citizens, have you ever pushed peoples buttons or antagonized a person who took an issue with you just hoping it would lead to a physical altercation? Has it ever happened? If someone at a party for instance is blatantly hitting on your girlfriend or saying inappropriate things, do you typically call them out and kindly tell them to fuck off? Any stories is what I'm asking basically.
Oh.. one more thing,
When you're about to fight an opponent and you're psyching yourself up to fight, what are your feelings towards your opponent? Do you typically just channel hate towards the guy before, during, and after the fight?
Or is there mutual respect amongst fighters where you may hate each other for the duration of the fight, but win or lose it's all love and comradery afterwards?
I'm expecting the cliche'd sports mentality answer here, but is there anyone that you've stepped into the ring with that kinda scared you being bigger or that looked meaner than you? Or anyone that you'd rather not have to fight because they're awesome and scary?
