Default Resolution Problem

Alright so I'm not really sure how this began but it's finally getting on my nerves. I have two monitors, one is a 27" widescreen and the other a standard 20" 4:3. Though I doubt the size has much to do with it. I'm having a problem where the picture isn't filling all the space of the monitor. The 27 is also a t.v. so I checked that when any device(PS3, ect.) is plugged in or I'm watching cable the picture fills the screen just fine. I drew a little diagram to try and help explain the problem, the black is the part of the screen that never gets filled when using them screens on the PC. Where normally there should just be the white boxes with no added black space. Also if I try to change the resolution the black area doesn't get bigger or smaller, though the picture stretches beyond the black area so I can't see all of it. If anyone has a clue as to what's going on, anything would be great. Thanks, and if there's more questions I can answer about the problem just let me know.
OS: W7 Ultimate x64
27":1280x720
20": 1280x960
The current resolutions are picked because they allow for the most picture visibility.

Maybe manually stretch your screen using the monitor buttons?

What are you using to configure your two monitors?

I've tried using the default manual monitor buttons as well as trying to "Adjust desktop size and position" in the Nvidia Control Panel. I've also tried changing the resolution through the Nvidia Control Panel, I tried using 1280x768(native) over the 1280x720 I have selected now and although it increased the picture size while decreasing the black area(although not all together) it stretched the picture so far into the remaining black area that it was to unbearable. Sorry if I'm rambling into run-on sentences.

Note: I've also used the W7 display controls as well as the Nvidia Control Panel.

I've had this problem years ago but it wasn't with two monitors just one where it kept doing that and I had to manually stretch the screen every time I rebooted. I don't remember how I fixed it because its been so long. However when running dual monitors it's always best to try and have them with the exact resolution settings, that's just a common thing most would agree on who are smart on the subject. I know yours are close enough so I can't say that's the reason because I had this myself.

You should try registering on SharkyForums.com or Demonoid if you have an account already on the main site. They have some really smart people but while Demonoid has more opinions and Sharky has gone down with amount of users the people left are dedicated and smart as all hell. I think you might find better results there. This is one of those questions that I would literally have to play around with or cause on my own machine to determine how to reverse it. I remember it took me quite awhile to find the answer but I do remember it was really easy.

Exclamation Re: Resolution Problem

Verify your monitors' max resolutions and frame rates (hz). How does your computer recognize the monitors? You may be lacking the proper drivers. It's most likely a driver/resolution/hz compatibility issue. You can try on the monitors to see if there's a "auto-adjust" setting for the display size.
